This is not just about coins but rather about economy and payment systems around the world from ancient times up to the modern era. There are lots of coins though, this was the basis for the museum. It's well worth a visit and it's modern, established ca 1998.

Numismatics, either amateurs or professionals, will find this enormous collection worth their while. Most recommended, especially the first floor. Be in no hurry to leave it. The higher floors are dedicated to all kinds of other aspects of money, such as savings, banking, and deserve much less attention than the first one. There are less explanations in English in the higher floors, so be prepared.
If Stockholm card allowed visiting placed twice - would have probably come there for the second time in our six-day visit.

Very "handy" little museum just next door to the Royal Castle. Very few visitors and activities for the kids as well. Wide range of objects. Nice restaurant.
