The Gamla Stan Scandic is within walking distance to all of the old town an a very short walk to a railway station and the port of Slussen. Also near some lovely little restaurants and a tiny bit away from the really crowded tourist streets. The rooms are small yes, but the service and really friendly and helpful reception staff are outstanding. The breakfast is fantastic. I counted 16 different types of breakfast and rye crackers and another 3 or 4 choices for gluten free if you're that way inclined.. Hot and cold food in abundance with fruit, great coffee and juices.

A classical hotel with an amazing and super convenient location, close to the metro, to all of Gamla Stan and Slussen.
Nice breakfast, quite small but lovely and clean rooms. Will definitely come back next time!

Me and a friend stayed at this hotel during the summer. The hotel is located in the old town of Stockholm, very central to a lot of restaurants, bars and shops. It's not too easy to spot though, not huge entrance or flags and signs outside, just a small and careful sign indicating the hotel chains name.
The first two nights we were booked into a room on the ground floor. We were, upon check-in, a bit anxious that there would be a lot of noise from the cobblestone street outside, but the receptionist assured us we wouldn't hear a thing. More or less true the first night, but on the Friday night the sound got unbearable! We got a bit annoyed, and asked the receptionist to help us out - and he did! He got us a room on the top floor that had a lot less sound seeping in! Great service, although one sleepless night out of four is still too much.

The rooms were very "koselig" (cosy) and the small breakfast buffet had more than we needed. All in all, a pleasent stay once we first got a quiet room.

(We might have had a small scandinavian misunderstanding; upon check-in, we asked in Norwegian if the street outside our room was calm, or "rolig" in Norwegian. The receptionist answered that "yes, it was very rolig". Only after we switched rooms we realized that "rolig" in Swedish means "fun"... Either he misunderstood, which is a good story, or he had never stayed in this room) :)

Room tip: Ask for a room on the upper floors. They say there is no noise from the streets, but there is!

Dear Guest,

Thank your for your feedback after you stay with us. The old town livens up during summer , so there are more life in the streets during this season. There is little traffic in the streets outside the hotel , but because of this noice is heard louder - if someone shouts in the street for example.

We are glad we managed to find another room for the remaining stay and we do hope you want to come and stay again.

Best regards , Magnus
