“Christmas market in old fashioned way”
Review of Jakriborg

It`s fantasic to find something like this in Sweden. Old fashioned buildings , small
streets,a lot of entertainments and of course many small shops with street food and things for Christamas. But you can´t find wine( glühwein) or something like that.

a nice place to visit in Christmas time.

of course you can go there every season . just take the train from Lund center
to next station ( direction Malmö)

Fantastic architecture, it's built like an mediaval town. We were there for the christmas market and that created a nice ambiance.

Studying urban planning and environment the visit to Jakriborg was especially interesting. I really like the idea behind this little village (and it's well worth reading up on for anyone who visits too), however it still lacks some human life during the day, when most residents are working elsewhere. It really has potential and I hope to come back in a few years and see more local businesses. Until then, you have just enough time to get off the train and wander the streets and then make it to catch the next train.

The whole idea about building a Medieval town in this flat part of Sweden, is incredible - and brave! I'm a Swede and I have been in Jakriborg several times to show friends. It's so hard to believe that this Medieval housing estate really exists!

Already the name is funny. Jakriborg consists of two namnes and a place from a comic magazine. Two brothers, Jan Berggren and Krister Berggren, took the first letters of their namnes: Ja + Kri. Then they added the last part of the namne of the place where Donald Duck lives (lived?): Ankeborg, borg (which meens a fortress). They used to read and like that comic magazine.

The place Jakriborg in NOT situated in Lund, but it is close to everything there: By bike you ride to Lund in 10 minutes and to the beaches in 15 minutes. By train, it is just 3 minutes to Lund and 9 to Malmö. And the continent is not far away: the Öresund Bridge, Copenhagen and the continent just 40 minutes away.

Go there, walk there or whatever - it's worth some effort to enjoy the Middle Age in the middle of the flat plains of Skåne!

Nice place in Lund to take a stroll and look at the beautifully preserved medieval buildings. Really recommend it.
