A wonderful night away at Manor House Farm prior to an Alton Towers trip. Chris and Margaret go above and beyond to welcome you into their beautiful home. Lovely little touches in the rooms and breakfast was one of the best I have ever had - the sausages are amazing!! Stunning views and lots of exploring to be done. Thank you very much for having us x

I was looking for somewhere to stay not too far from Uttoxeter racecourse for my husband’s birthday and Keepers Cottage was perfect.
It’s in a great location: quiet, surrounded by hills & fields but close to Uttoxeter, Alton Towers and the Peak District.
The house is cozy and cute, built in 1588 but with all mod cons inside. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need. Fresh milk in the fridge and biscuits when we arrived was a lovely touch, and Chris popped his head in not long after we arrived to check everything was ok, and helped us with a recommendation for taxis.
The house is warm, and all towels, cleaning products and tea & coffee were provided.
Directions to the property were accurate.
We used the cottage as a base for exploring Matlock, Ilam and Bakewell and would’ve liked longer. We stayed for only 3 nights. Next time we will not hesitate to stay here for longer and explore further!!

Thank you very much for taking the time to review our self catering cottage and extremely pleased you enjoyed your stay. The 1588 date is not totally accurate. I spent several years as an antique dealer and i found that date panel .The actual age is not certain but there was undoubtedly a property on the same sight at that time So who knows !!
Best wishes Chris and Margaret

Another excellent visit again with family in the pleasant location with very comfortable bedrooms with coffee making facilities and small fridge and ensuite bathrooms.

Morning breakfast excellent as normal with cereal, fresh fruit, yogurts, juice and tea plus coffee followed by home cooked full English breakfast plus toast.

Lovely walks also in the countryside near cottage. Plus few minutes drive to Alton towers theme, also the lovely town of bakewell and chatsworth house etc.

After days out and evening meal we sat in the lounge with the open fire with the family with a few drinks and chatting about our day out and watching TV which was lovely.

Below are a few photos of our recent visit and would fully recommend.

Thank you again Chris and Margaret for making us feel welcome and look forward to our next visit.

What an exceptionally delightful stay we had!

We found the little Keepers Cottage to be cozy, delightful, beautiful, and unique. Chris and Margaret have beautifully restored and decorated the cottage and have managed to preserve the historic quaintness while seamlessly incorporating (greatly appreciated!) a modern kitchen, shower, and a clothing washer/dryer.

The gardens are a treasure all their own. Exploring them we felt like wide-eyed children as there was something delightful, different and new around every corner. The amount of labor and love that has been invested in the gardens is overwhelming and evident.

Centrally located, some of our days were spent hiking, shopping and visiting Castleton, Buxton, Ashborne, Trentham and Dovedale.

Thank you, Margaret and Chris, for our magnificent holiday. We can’t wait to visit again!

Hi You two
Thank you both very much indeed for your excellent review. It is doubly pleasing when our cottage guests take the time to review us because as our guests are staying self catering we do not get the chance to spend much time with them .And so we always wonder if everything was great for them,so thank you again for the review.
We certainly love the cottage which before we converted it had been a wood shed and pig sty.We intend to retire there some day.
Best wishes Chris and Margaret.

We have stayed here before and loved it so much we decided to take our Daughter,Husband and Grandson for a long week end. Chris and Margaret are wonderful host’s we cannot fault a thing even on a weekend when they had a full house they still found time to show our 8 year old Grandson the newly born calves and talk to him about how the farm works, he is already planning a return visit, the breakfast is wonderful too.The farm house is full of antiques and an open fire to keep you warm in winter what more can you ask for perfect B&B.
