This was booked for me for business by a local, so I had no control over it. Stayed 7 nights and did not fully enjoy it. The room (16b) was not only street level, but the only significant window (another tiny one in the bathroom) was actually the door of the room itself which opened straight to the street! So very stuffy during the night and no way to ventilate while you are away. As I understand the rooms of this "hotel with different concept" are dispersed in 9 buildings in the area; which is very close to the center, well connected, quiet and near some cool shops and restaurants. This means some other buildings may have much better rooms but mine also had furniture straight out of the early eighties and smoke-yellowed walls. They should invest in renovation and ban smoking (there was odor from the room next door constantly). It was fairly clean, but there is no cleaning on the weekend days (trash piles up in the kitchenette and bathroom), and no new clean towels mid-week unless you pay extra. Perhaps the main target group is a long stay visitor who will use the available laundry room to wash his towels mid-week? The kitchenette was well equipped (microwave, filter coffee machine, a good amount of dishes/glasses, etc.). There is an internet connection. Reception works only Mon-Fri, and then until 3 PM.

I thought this place was great. Hotel 9 Sma Hjem's apartment annex is a fantastic deal for the long term traveler. I was in Copenhagen conducting research for three months and this place work really well within my graduate student budget. It's certainly not fancy as you have to share restroom and kitchen facilities, but the rooms come fully equipped with television, fridge, sink, and the necessary furniture. It was actually quite secure and felt like a home away from home. I always found the staff to be kind and helpful, especially for those, like me, whose Danish was a bit rusty. It's a bit off the beaten track, about 2 miles north of the city center up in Norrebro, but there are two bus routes with stop less than a block away from the front door, about a 2 minute walk. The rooms were relatively quiet. It's located close to the National Hospital, so there are a fair number of sirens, but otherwise traffic noise wasn't too bad.

I should warn, though, that it can be tricky to get a reservation. The first time I sent in an email inquiry about booking a place in the annex (which is their preferred method), they thought I was looking for a hotel room and said nothing was available. It wasn't until I called, made a verbal inquiry, and sent a second email that I finally got a place. It is also worth noting that this is not a smoke-free environment. As a non-smoker, though, I never found the presence of cigarette smoke to be a problem as the building is well ventilated.

Over all, though, I highly recommend this place and I would definitely stay there again.
