I thought this place was great. Hotel 9 Sma Hjem's apartment annex is a fantastic deal for the long term traveler. I was in Copenhagen conducting research for three months and this place work really well within my graduate student budget. It's certainly not fancy as you have to share restroom and kitchen facilities, but the rooms come fully equipped with television, fridge, sink, and the necessary furniture. It was actually quite secure and felt like a home away from home. I always found the staff to be kind and helpful, especially for those, like me, whose Danish was a bit rusty. It's a bit off the beaten track, about 2 miles north of the city center up in Norrebro, but there are two bus routes with stop less than a block away from the front door, about a 2 minute walk. The rooms were relatively quiet. It's located close to the National Hospital, so there are a fair number of sirens, but otherwise traffic noise wasn't too bad.
I should warn, though, that it can be tricky to get a reservation. The first time I sent in an email inquiry about booking a place in the annex (which is their preferred method), they thought I was looking for a hotel room and said nothing was available. It wasn't until I called, made a verbal inquiry, and sent a second email that I finally got a place. It is also worth noting that this is not a smoke-free environment. As a non-smoker, though, I never found the presence of cigarette smoke to be a problem as the building is well ventilated.
Over all, though, I highly recommend this place and I would definitely stay there again.
