“Good Service, but no coffee..”
Reviewed 29 February 2012

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. The venue is perfect, the building itself was interesting, as it was a converted warehouse to start off with. The staff which I interacted with at the reception were amazing and extremely helpful. However, no complimentary tea or coffee in the rooms?? This has been the first hotel I've stayed at where I did not had this facility in the rooms.

The hotel is a converted grain barn. Corridors and rooms are consequently heavily beamed, a pleasant aspect even if one of the main pillars is in the middle of the room. Location is good as it close to a metro station and the tourist-trap that is Nyhavn and surrounding areas but far enough not to be overrun by the fall-out from those bars.

Service at reception when checking in and out is friendly and efficient, even more so after-stay when it transpired that I left my car keys in the room safe. The bar area is quirky and the fact it is frequented by locals must mean it is good by Copenhagen standards.

Those are the good bits. The downsides are that (1) the service at the bar can be frustratingly slow, especially when they have local celebs in (if it were a pub or even above freezing, I'd have walked out on saturday long before I eventually got served), and (2) the walls are shockingly thin, meaning you can hear the TV and snoring from neighbouring rooms and, if in a room at the front, be woken by the noise from the traffic or, on mondays 7am, the bin collection.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea facing room, though they may ask for DKR200 per day for the upgrade .

The hotel is nice and clean but the price of everything is massively excessive. Copenhagen rips off tourists and i will not be visiting again and the hotel carries on the tradition of excessive food and drink prices

This was a great location for walking to most all sites in Copenhagen. Also close to the metro that brought us to the city from the airport. Staff were helpful and courteous. Room was clean and comfortable. Checkout is at noon, which is nice. Price was reasonable but we were there in February so not a very touristy time. Beware...Copenhagen is very expensive!

Excellent hotel, warm atmosphere, cleanliness and kindness are the peculiarities of this place. It is located in the central zone, easily accessible and very closeo to the old town and the harbor. Good quality restaurant, with helpful and attentive staff.
I recommend this hotel to everyone andI'm sure that you will be happy

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Next door to royal residence Amalienborg Palace and just a short walk from Nyhavn, this imposing 200-year-old former granary warehouse is one of the largest hotels in the city, with 366 rooms - but don't let that put you off. It may not be boutique but big can definitely be beautiful. Beyond the two cast iron canons at the entrance is a neon-pink bar (great for a pre-dinner tipple), while guests retire to rooms showing off classic Danish touches such as teak furniture, low ceilings and original wooden beams. Best of all are the panoramas across the water towards the city's shiny Opera House and Christiania: a view fit for royalty. ... more   less
