There are very few places to get cask ale in Denmark, and this is the crown jewel of the bunch. Small but cozy, great service and small talk, friendly atmos, and a wide and ever changing selection of cask ales, selected for their harmony and quality by the knowledgeable British owner. The bar also offers carbonated specialty beers on tap from around the world, as well as some select ciders.
Located in the center of town, it is most conveniently placed for the weary walker, and a true oasis for its many regulars (who, mysteriously, all seem to be academics of all sorts). No annoying music, no annoying TV screen, just a bar, comfy seating and a couple of restrooms. Clean, top ales, non-smoking (that's what the street is for), quiet if you want it, but also open for friendly chatter, this is my favourite place for a beer in the world!
I am a local business school teacher from Copenhagen, and have no ties to Charlie's Bar, other than I love it!
