Juliette Cafe & Brasserie
Ranked #28 of 618 Restaurants in Aarhus
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: US$17 - US$74
Cuisines: French, Danish
Description: Juliette Cafe & Brasserie - In the heart of Frederiksbjerg Aarhus Here is Juliette, a simplified, informal and cozy brasserie, where the food is inspired by French comfort food - mixed with a few international / ethnic inspirations. The food is homemade with fresh, seasonal ingredients. We have deliberately intended to create a brasserie that is more rustic and homey, where you can expect the service and the atmosphere is quite informal. Our concept allows you great flavors, whether the appetite is big or small, or if you just want a quick bite of French cuisine on the road. Besides good and honest food you can enjoy tasty beers, fine French wines, cider, lovely bubbles and weekends we enjoy serving cocktails. We can also offer a wonderful French-inspired brunch. In the summertime, you can enjoy the brasserie's courtyard or sit in front of the Brasserie, where the evening sun warms in the lovely late summer. A bientot! Open hours: Morning-brunch 10.00-14.00 Lunch: 11.30-16.00 Tapas: 16.00-late Dinner: 17.00-late

After a couple of hours at Aros, we went to Juliette's Brasserie where we had booked a table for lunch on a sunny spring Sunday. We were lucky enough to be seated at the window where we could watch the passers by on what seems to be quite a trendy street. But the real pleasure was the food, which was inspired by "la cuisine de France" at its best. Two of our small party tucked into "assiettes gourmand", with salmon mousse, salads, meats, olives, salted almonds and fresh cheeses. Très bien! We were tempted to return for dinner, but were staying in another part of town so it was a bit too far to walk. In addition, by evening the sunshine had given way to spring rain...

We walked in excited on our weekend break away from London to visit Aarhus to try Juliette after reading good reviews.

However were met with staff giving us the feeling they have had enough for the day.
Unfriendly greeting, making us feel slightly away!

I asked the guy behind the bar, where can we sit? Anywhere he said and so we did.

Sitting there waiting for someone to take our order eventually the waitress came over with a solemn look on her face: the kitchen is closed she said, but you can order cake. Ok I said, it’s only 3.55pm on Saturday (I presume they close the kitchen at 4pm), can you check with the kitchen please if they can do a burger I ask, looking over at the table next to us, who looked like they had just been served.

Solemn face came back: No.. but there is plenty of other places on this street you can eat. Ok we said leaving feeling just as unwelcome as we did when we had arrived.

I can thank her though because as we crossed the street we found a wonderful burger joint, which ironically served us the best vegiburger I have had in some time with a much better attitude and great conversation, thanks Karen! Showing us that the Danes really are some of the friendliest people around! Much better vibes and food with a better price point;) @tommiesburgerjoint

Had a pumpkin soup that was great but a bit oily. Main course was a nice duck salad which I enjoyed. Room is nice and cozy but prepare for the smell of cooking to stay with you as you leave - as part of the cooking is going on in the corner of the restaurant..
