“Heaven in the Hills”
Reviewed 10 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We spent the most blissful fortnight as a family at Kalimera; the first time we had ever been to Skopelos, and what a beautiful place from which to explore. The house is in an idyllic location up in the hills, yet a short distance from Skopelos Town - making it a perfect hideaway for anyone who seeks privacy and tranquillity, but doesn't want to be too far away from civilisation.

The house far exceeded our expectations, it took our breath away when we arrived: the views are extraordinary, the gardens and pool so beautifully maintained, and the house itself brims with a creative character and charm.

We were made to feel so welcome by the lovely owner, Gabriella, who took time and care to introduce us to our new 'home' for the fortnight, and who left us with some thoughtful and kind touches (including local honey, handmade olive soap, and even a beautiful wooden boat made by herself).

Throughout the year we travel extensively both for work and pleasure, and over time we have stayed in many different places across the world, but we have to say that we were in absolute heaven at Villa Kalimera: for us the peace, beauty and charm of the house high on the hill stole our heart.

Dear Esther,

Thank you for your review, we value your opinion and we aim to improve the quality of our services every day.
We are strong enthusiasts of TripAdvisor and we highly appreciate the immense value of genuine reviews – we work very hard to deliver perfect service to every guest and we are very thankful that our customers can share their experience with other travellers and help us doing better.

I was deeply surprised by your contribution, I feel a significant part of your review may be unfair and inaccurate, so I’d like to address it in the same order as you did.
The description of Country Villa Kalimera to all our portals and website is detailed: there is a considerable text to read with the description of the interior, exterior and surrounding areas of the villa. It takes approximately 2-3 minutes to read, may seem a lot when you are looking many accomodation at the same time, but we believe it's important to give all the infos about the house to our potencial costumers so they know what to expect.
The villa has personal objects (decoration, by no means disturbing the functionality of the villa), because the house narrates the journeys of my family, our experiences and travels. We actually lived in the villa for a while as a family. It's a house that was restored by us, keeps the country feeling of the old times and wants to preserve the sensation of the rustic. Nevertheless, the house is equipped with all the amenities of a modern touristic facility. We consider that having personal objects is an added value to the overall authentic experience that someone can have staying in Country Villa Kalimera.

The villa has numerous terraces, balconies, kiosks, hammocks, sofas, chairs, whether you prefer to stay inside or outside the villa. The Loft areas are rechead by stairs. There are a couple of stairs in between the zones of the garden and interior, but I they are not a major hassle. The villa, as stated to the adaptability section, is not suitable for wheelchair users.

Being a restored country house (greek kalivi), the bathrooms were built inside the previous facility. They are equipped with all basic services of the normal bathrooms, they are small but they do their job. I personally checked the length of the curtains, and there is no leak. Guests must only make sure to close the curtain properly to avoid water leaking.

We are proud of our villa, a gem into the countryside and we are sure the guests who are choosing our home, they are looking for a special place full of character and authenticity to spent their precious vacations.

In spite of feeling that your review is partially unfair (which punishes us severely), we value your criticism, we take it positively and will put into place the right measures to avoid similar issues in the future.

Thank you once again and best regards,
Alessandro
