A perfect hotel in a perfect place. The owner of the hotel is very polite and she is trying to do everything to feel like your home. Breakfast is amazing with different homemade tastes every day. This hotel is highly recommended.

We stayed for three nights and wished our stay was longer. Maria has the best breakfast ready for you in the mornings. She also is very attentive to all of your needs. The Greco Hotel is in a easy to reach location. Will definitely stay here if I get to go back to Hydra!

This might be a case of you get what you pay for. This is an old place in need of some upgrades. I think our room had the original split system AC unit -- did not work well. Beds are hard. Bath so old it was quaint. We did not hang out in the hotel all the time so we were ok but we were there for a soccer practice (we love kids, no big deal) and there to watch people come up for donkey rides (station visible from garden, flies evident). Owner does not speak much English and did not answer emails, sons mentioned by Rick Steves were not around. It is a long haul in the sun from the dock if you have bags (can hire a donkey). Good side: garden is lovely, Hydra delightful no matter what room you have. Lots of reasons to like this place if you are right for it. We could have chosen better. Did not wreck our visit.

We are staying at Greco Hotel and it is delightful. Maria is truly as excellent a proprietor as other reviewers described.

WiFi in the room and public area is a bit slow, but fine and meant e didn’t need a Greek SIM card as I usually buy.

Breakfast is satisfactory. Yummy sesame coated little savory cheese filled pastry.

Appreciate that if you want cold water, you needn’t go to the market. Maria sells bottled cold water liters, charged to your room. Easy to have water or coffee and sit in her garden to read and relax. Ask for a mosquito coil to be placed near you if you choose to sit outside here for hours to read, as we have. The sounds of an occasional rooster, birds, donkeys going by, horses tied nearby, an occasional dog and quiet spoken voices is wonderful.

As a carry-on only traveler, it’s nice that Greco offers a space on the side of the villa to hand wash your laundry and line dry it.

So far we’ve only dealt with Maria, not her son. When I had a special request (padding to soften the bed), I used google translate and Maria provided a cushy, perfect foam mattress topper for a wonderful night’s sleep.

No frills room. Very clean. Serviceable. Cold air con in the room is fab in the summer now.

Very peaceful and pleasurable stay.

Everything about the hotel is lovely. The outside patio is spacious with flowers everywhere, the lobby is welcoming with lots of seating, the rooms are pleasant and clean. Breakfast is marvelous and Mrs. Maria's rice pudding was the best I had in Greece. The hotel is a few blocks from the harbor which makes for a quiet stay. I hope to stay here again some day.

Room tip: Rooms on the back overlook a soccer field below and the mountains in the background. The soccer field was quiet.
