We had a Penelope Suite and it was superb. The hotel cannot be faulted, everything is clean, high standard and immaculately maintained. The pool is a good size and clever decking next to a small private beach. Food - very good and staff helpful and friendly. Absolutely loved it.

Room Tip: I cannot fault the Penelope Suite

our first time here but for sure not our last. a very good hotel with clean big rooms, all sea view with balcony. very veeery friendly staff and the manager (often is at the hotel) is a great man. the food is very good. internet wifi is working great, you can find a lot of parking places. the view from each room is stunning. you have to walk about 10 min by car from the main road but once you arrived at san nicolas its all worth it. very peacefull and relaxing hotel and area.

We are currently staying at San Nicolas Resort Hotel, our third stay.
We were very surprised to read the previous comment and felt compelled to respond.
We have eaten here many times and have always received first class service and meals of the highest quality.
You could not ask for more professional or attentive staff and we have never been kept waiting for anything we have ordered !
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff at San Nicolas and for us, it truly is the perfect holiday destination.

We weren't residents at this hotel (we're staying at a villa in Mikros Gialos) but as they are open to non-residents went there last night. The hotel looks amazing...but was deserted! The only couples we saw (2) were heading out and we were the only diners...now we know why!
The restaurant offers a set menu for €20 p/p for 3 courses. Menu was extensive and sounded good , a bit more up market than the local tavernas and in keeping with the high end surroundings. We were left to choose our selection whilst having a beer. Waited ages for the order to be taken only to be told my choice of starter wasn't available and neither were a couple of the others and one or two of the main courses! So why weren't we told that initially? We weren't offered a wine list or even another drink. We both chose avocado with shrimps for our first course....we waited ....and waited...eventually served with a flourish with two steaming bowls of insipid looking (and tasting) soup! The waiter hurried away before we'd got over our confusion and had chance to say anything. We assumed he'd made an error on the order and mentioned this to him when he breezed through but he assured us it was correct and 'salads coming' ?? The soup was unidentifiable! Possibly v watery mushroom, who knows! Again a long wait before clearing and again before our 'salads' arrived. Looked promising....chopped avocado neatly arranged with diced prawns atop, a grilled whole chilli and lime plus plate sprinkled with a bright yellow powder. The avocado quite hard, certainly not ripe...prawns ok...but it all tasted a little odd. The yellow powder turned out to be very sweet lemon in flavour...like sherbet!!! It didn't go with the dish and made it taste weird!! Again another long wait...plates eventually cleared and was asked to keep our knives and forks (!? Even though there were others on the table for our main course!!) Again kept waiting for ages before our mains arrived. My husband chose Chefs Lamb (it actually says Chefs Lamp on the glossy hard backed menus!) and I had the chicken with feta cheese (coated in cornflake?? Presume breadcrumbs lost in translation!) with mashed potato and leek crisps. Eventually it arrived...with smells of burning wafting from the kitchen but again a horrendously long wait. Mine was edible, but the outside over cooked a v brown, no sign of the mash or leeks...fried new potatoes and only just cooked broccoli. My husbands Chefs Lamp was three lamb cutlets with barely any meat on and the most disgusting looking veg! Tasteless new potatoes, almost raw broad beans, French beans, and peas but bizarrely some were burnt! And an unidentifiable other vegetable...like a slightly green tinged mushroom but tasted nothing like one, horrible!! Again, as we were hungry, we ate some and waited and waited.....and waited and waited. We'd not actually chosen the dessert at the beginning, telling the waiter who didn't appear to speak or understand English very well, that we would rather choose later (which he mistook for wanting cheesecake, which he looked pleased about initially.....maybe that's all they had!?) though he eventually understood. After such a bad meal with such poor, painfully slow service, we abandoned our table and headed to reception to pay but telling her we would not pay the full amount as it had been so bad and we'd not had dessert. She rang the waiter and asked us to sit, she even offered us the chance to 'take a photo' but my face must've said it all as she said "maybe no" Her excuse for the poor service was that he 'has residents downstairs also to serve, so is up and down' Not our problem! Get more staff! We offered to pay only for what we'd had knocking €8 off, our estimate for the cost of dessert but in all honesty some folks would've refused to pay and back in UK we wouldn't have but couldn't be bothered with more hassle trying to explain through the language barrier. The waiter said "sorry" But all in all probably the worst meal / service we've ever had on holiday and all the more disappointing as the whole place held such potential! And on leaving we saw how many he was having to cope with ...two tables of two....drinking...none eating!! One guy, older and possibly a manager of sorts was floating around throughout the evening but didn't intervene when we were complaining and was seen tucked away watching TV as we left....
