We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Louis Family Resort with Thomson we were travelling as a family of four (a 8 year old and a 5 year old). Before leaving I saw a few dodgy reviews and was getting quite worried about what to expect (wish I hadn't!). Here is my honest opinion of the hotel.......
Rooms - We upgraded to a sea view with a sliding partition (210 Euros directly with the hotel rather that 280 pounds if done through Thomson). It was worth every penny, the views were amazing and the partition meant that we all got a much better night sleep and we didn't have to go to bed when the kids did! The tv doesn't have any English channels, but one channel does have English films on most nights. The bed was quite hard, but we got used to it and found it fine. The maids do an excellent job and room was thoroughly cleaned and beds made, fresh towels every day. Our bath didn't have a plug, we reported it and it was sorted within minutes! There is plenty of storage space too. Also, nice quiet air con.

Food - This was something I was worried about after some of the reviews I read. We found the food to be very hot and tasty with a good selection. The theme nights were repeated each week so when staying for 2 weeks it got a bit repetitive. The lunch and evening meal was excellent, but the breakfast was not so good. There was a large selection of cooked breakfast, but if like me you can't face a full English every day the selection was poor - really horrible cereal, hardly any fruit and two big bowls of yoghurt (strawberry and plain). We also had a slight problem that the breakfast was only served till 10am and our kids kept sleeping in due to all the late nights. If you miss the breakfast the snacks from 10am are a bit of a strange mix (horrible cereal with no milk or bowls, croissiants but no jam, chips and hot dogs or prunes!!). The restaurant was run extremely efficiently, but we did feel quite rushed at times. The staff tend to take your plate while you are eating your last mouthful and others on the table are still eating. One time we went to get our dessert to come back and find our table completely cleared...tablecloth, drinks, cutlery the lot! Also be careful with little ones as the metal serving spoons tend to get left in the hot food trays and my little one burnt her hand on the handle...I spotted a few adults doing the same!
Pool - The pool was a bit on the small side for the size of hotel, but we didn't have a problem and there was only one day when we couldn't get a sunbed near the pool. There is a lifeguard on duty all day and a pool bar for drinks. Unfortunately though, you cannot get a fresh fruit juice, it's very very strong squash, it's fine for during the day but a bit naff in cocktails.
Entertainment - The Thomson Entertainment reps worked really hard and did such a good job (especially Flamey Amy and Gorgeous Greg!). They got people involved and joining in without any pressure and made even the boring stuff like Bingo fun. The professional acts were hit and miss and we weren't happy that the same acts were repeated weekly as we were there for 2 weeks so we saw the same acts twice....and some of them weren't that great the first time!!
Kids Club - We used the Thomson kids club, but the hotel also have their own (and the hotel staff seemed really nice). We didn't think some of the staff were quite as upbeat as previous Thomson kids clubs we have used....we felt a bit of tension between some of the staff. Also we did feel a couple of times that they just wanted you to drop the kids and didn't want to answer questions you may have. We asked for an extra Thomson kids club t-shirt as being there for two weeks the first one had got really mucky and they just looked at us blankly and told us 'no'. We didn't mind, but it was the way they said it. Saying that, our kids did enjoy it and it was handy having the drop in club so that our kids could be together despite their ages.
Beach - It is tiny and pebbley, but our kids loved getting a bucket and net as there was lots of fish and little crabs. The sea was so clear and beautiful and the again the views are amazing.
We did get a hire car and explored the island which was stunning, we found some beautiful places, I would definitely recommend it!
Overall the hotel was good value for money, very clean, friendly staff and nice food. I would recommend it. Please feel free to contact me if you are going there and want any advice/info.More
