This hotel gets you back to what Greece use to be : an open, friendly, giving environment with wonderful people, ready to help you and that really try to make your stay unique. We spent there among the best holidays ever! And we intend to come back as soon as possible. I would and will recommend this hotel and its staff to all my friends, especially those that are under high stress : this place really works like a soothing soul massage, and allows you to relax all at once.

I had booked the blue room for my 1-week stay with my wife and we were not disappointed. Quite the contrary: We were pleasantly surprised by the beauty and tidiness of the place, the immaculately kept flowers all around and the sense of relaxation that enveloped us as soon as we set foot inside. This particular room has two bathrooms, as we wanted it, and comes quite luxuriously equipped for a reasonable price. The views are excellent, the (not so little) balcony ideal for an afternoon drink and the bed heavenly. The location is also excellent, the hotel being in the middle of the way between Chora and the beach of Livadi. Although we had a car, I think one could do without (provided one isn't afraid of using one's feet a bit). We enjoyed cooking a couple of afternoons in the fully equipped kitchenette, which came handy since (sorry for this Astypalea) we didn't find the food quality on the island's restaurants quite up to our standards. Otherwise the island is beautiful (barren and wild in a mystical way) and the sight of the castle is truly amazing. Don't miss climbing on top to enjoy the magnificent views.

Room Tip: Blue room, no contest.

We've just had the most wonderful trip to Astypalaia, and we loved Hotel Kalderimi. Katerina and her family were fantastic hosts, and the traditional houses were beautiful. We were treated to delicious strawberries and cucumbers from Katerina's garden, and were served wonderful, generous breakfasts with a stunning view. We stayed in Girouli, which was beautiful, and so well kept and tidied by the staff. I loved cooking in the evenings, just as the website said I would! We brought our 6-year old daughter, who enjoyed running around exploring the grounds. We stayed a long time-- 10 days-- and really got to know the island and people of Astypalaia. A very welcoming place, and we enjoyed it very much. We highly recommend the beautiful houses of Hotel Kalderimi and their generous hosts. Thank you, Katerina!

With every single room a unique experience in local architecture and interior design, an amazing view of the Livadi beach and the castle, with the gentle sway of the wheat field outside our room, one gets a very condensed anti-stress treatment indeed. The saffron bisquits, the orange preserve and the home eggs that Mrs. Katerina makes are a perfect start of your day in this amazing islands. And being there in May ensures a very quiet stay and the best price.

Room Tip: The two rooms closest to the sea.
