for us that we travel usually in cozy small hotels/ rooms around Greece and abroad, this "standard" hotel, wasn't fitting to our style. So my review is very subjective and coming through that.

cons: Simple, standard and a wannabe 4* hotel (general problem with "stars" in Greece).
pros: Simple, standard, on very central location.

Room tip: Higher floors have less noise from street/pool. In front rooms is the street and sea view, back rooms have view on the swimming pool.

We came for a friend's wedding in Crete and were suggested to stay in this hotel with other guests. Couple of points were disappointing, though: 1) bathroom - shower water pressure too weak and constant water temperature jumps 2) the pool and the area around were quite dirty 3) breakfast was seriously poor, with clearly cheapest (and poor quality) ingredients picked 4) cleaning personnel entering the room while we were inside despite of "do not disturb" sign on the door. This was just a weekend, so our demands were really low, but paying even the "friendly" lowred price felt like a rip-off, given the quality. On the good side, it's really central, next to the port, a very cost area to stroll around.

My boyfriend an i travelled to the hotel Ideon on 16th august 2011 for 7 nights. We could have easily stayed another week, so much to do in the area with the harbour just around the corner to the right and to the left is the old town and its great, with all the restaurants you could imagine, so much choice and lots of bars whether it be lively or quiet, old or young. The hotel rooms were clean very clean and the staff were very nice, particulary the barmen, Costas and Nikos. We were very comfortable and considering the price it was far more than we expected, we could not have been happier.

i highly reccomend this hotel, we would definitely return. the trips that they offer there are also great, we went on a trip ourselves to chania which we travelled from the local bus station which is just a walk away and then we went on a landrover safari aranged by thomas cook and it provided a real insight into the culture, we had such a laugh aswel with the tour guide Stavros.

pool is small but that wasnt a problem at all. we paid for bed and breakfast, breakfast wasnt anything fantatsic but it was decent and there was enough choice due to the hangovers off the Raki which they insist you drink constantly!!

Room tip: seaview or pool view is good.

Just back from 2 weeks in Ideon Hotel we just can say only positive things about it. The location is perfect - was the main reason for choosing the hotel in the first place - just around the corner of the old city centre without having the masses of tourists just outside. We had a room with seaview and view of the port and the fortress - lovely. The staff is extremely friendly and flexible. The rooms are clean and are cleaned every day. The breakfast is very much OK for a greek hotel and not the same every day. The warm dishes were always fresh, no matter if we came at 7:30 or 10. The bar area outside is very nice. The pool area is small but ok.

Room tip: We had room 416 with seaview. It was a corner room so only one neighbouring room, which made is more quiet.

just back from our 6th year in the Ideon and it is like visiting the family - same friendly & excellent staff. The service is of the highest quality - bearing in mind that thisis a 3star hotel. Still finding the odd gem hidden away in the old town - this year Akiri. Good food at a reasonable price. Of course one can still pay 75euros for overstated meals at the old harbour. Castelvecchio up near the Fortezza still worth a visit. The Ideon "happy hour" (lasts 90 minutes!) made a great start to the evenings. And the time share touts were still hanging around - telling us that we had won a raffle!! - yeah right!!
