Took my boyfriend to Rethymno for his birthday in April. He'd never been to Crete, and I'd been praising Greek food, since my last visit in 2019! We're both vegetarians and were on the hunt for the most authentic delicious vegetarian food for several days. A local taxi driver recommended Taverno Othonas, said it was the best Greek food in a radius of 50 km.

We went there and was meet by the nicest waiter ever. They had 'todays menu' - 50 Euro for a five-course menu + 500 ml. of wine for two people (yes 50 Euro for two people, not one!) They had a vegetarian alternative, and it was outstanding!

The best food we had on the entire trip, and we both have high standards when it comes to food.

Other than the five dishes, we got three extra appetizers for free. We gave the waiter a 50 Euro tip, since the service was just as amazing as the food and we went there three days in a row.

If you're in a radius of 50 km. of Taverno Othonas, you have to go there, it's SO worth it ❤️

Got to say the food was delicious, came here on TripAdvisor reviews and it didn’t let us down. Service was relaxed and made for an enjoyable evening. Definitely worth a visit.

My family in law has been visiting Othanas since 2009 and brought me here to join them in the happiness. Staff is great, food is awesome and creative vs regular traditional Greek food. Fully recommend and be sure to have some raki.

Coming here for 15 years now. Really good traditional Cretan food. Also, they have some specials that are nice. Especially the chicken dishes. Last, but certainly not least, the staff is amazing!
