Chania is a wonderful destination. A fantastic old town with winding cobblestone streets filled with homes, boutiques and interesting sights to see. The harbor couldn't be any more beautiful, lined with bistros, boutiques, and meandering tourists. In the heart of it all is the La Maison Ottomane, a truly special hotel for a refined traveler.
The hotel is more like an Inn and has only three rooms so you are ensured of an exclusive stay and one on one service. The rooms are unique and filled with wonderful objects d'art, antiques and other curiosities. Many of the furnishings and collectables are from the land of the Ottoman empire from Turkey, Greece and Morocco. There are riveting oil painting portraits from another time of people dressed in period outfits. One can spend an hour just looking at these painting and art that fill the room.
The Constantinople Suite which was on two floors with a full sized living room and bedroom. It was extremely spacious. The bedroom was lovely with draping dentaile over the headboard, a comfortable bed an again lovely antiques and pieces of art throughout. Downstairs there was everything I needed during my stay from coffee and tea, complimentary ouzo. This place is about the details and there was a fine china tea set for my tea during the day.
And this level of detail and service was there throughout the stay, the owner Andreas was often there with a recommendation, offer of help and even to share a few of his colorful travel stories.
Breakfast was in the courtyard and an extension of the fine service, served on tables with cloth linen and fresh cut flowers. The breakfast its self was really first rate with a wide range of Turkish and Greek dishes as well as other common choices.
All and all the stay at La Maisone Ottomane was fantastic. I can’t imagine why anyone would not love a stay there on their next visit to Chania Greece.
