Incredible artifacts displayed in a well-designed museum. We were impressed the the collections and the ease of viewing.

We had to escort some friends to the new Acropolis museum. It was crowded, a huge line to get the tickets. Once inside, the visit is very interesting and the view to the acropolis is superb! The museum’s restaurant on top floor is very good although you have to be very patient, or lucky, to find a table!

Go to the museum first before visiting the Acropolis. The museum proves the context of what you will be seeing at the site and makes the visit to the ruins more meaningful.

In addition to the incredible actual restorative Parthenon ruins inside the Museum being protected from the external pollutants which may turn the marble color black, we also enjoyed their 2nd level coffee shop with a classical harpist playing exquisite pieces. The views of the Parthenon from the Museum are also fabulous to behold! The staff there are quite brusk and "cranky" and we are quite mindful guests. Beware the photo taking policies.

Our guide was excellent, but a visit would be worth it even if you don't have a guide. Lots of outstanding displays that are well-labelled, inc. in literate English. See it just before you actually go to the Parthenon if possible.
