Full of restaurants and gift shops district bursting with life almost 24/7. Not the best place for a dinner because restaurants tends to be overpriced and not best quality (as in all highly tourist places...) but to stroll the streets and sit for a coffe on one of the cafes situated on the stairs and look down and the busy streets below...and for souvenir shopping, of course

It does not take a lot of one's time to wander around the district of ancient Plaka, yet one is given a great chance to have an insight into local life of the Greeks.

Always when I visit Athens I must take at least a walk in this old center full of beautiful magazines, tavernas. I love the vibe that you find in Plaka, it’s unique.

The Plaka has beautiful views of the Acropolis. The Plaka is all inclusive area with the best Greek restaurants, and shops for all budgets. I met the nicest locals who not just point you to a destination but walk you there also. This is a great way to spend your first evening in Athens. Very relaxing!! If you're like me and like to pick up a special piece of jewelry, this might be the place to get an evil eye.
