I booked through hotels dot com.
I managed to get an upgrade of the room for free.
The room was very simple but functional, not too small, extremely clean.
Very nice staff at the reception.
The only problem was the noise from the street: due to the central position, in a nice neighbourhood full of clubs, at night it gets seriously noisy. Maybe some better windows or some heavy shutters would have solved the problem

Room Tip: Try to ask a room that does not face the small street with the clubs

This is a small and unpretentious hotel that has a fantastic location right in the middle of everything! Rooms are small, neat, clean, air-conditioned and quiet. There is a lift that could be in a museum but works very well. Our room on the top floor had a balcony with a view to the Acropolis. Eating, drinking and shopping choices start right outside the door and continue within easy strolling distance. Syntagma Square and metro station are 5 minutes walk I one direction and Monastiraki Square and metro 5 minutes in the opposite direction. The famous flea market starts at the metro station. The location could not be better.

We decided to spend an extra week on our own in Athens (following a 2 week group tour to the islands), and we were delighted to find the Carolina. We remembered the hotel from our "Europe on $5 a Day" tour nearly 50 years ago. It's been well-maintained and is still a clean, comfortable, welcoming place. The breakfast is complete (2 kinds of eggs), staff friendly and helpful, wifi good, location convenient (just off Ermou, between Syntagma and Monastiraki). The neighborhood, Psyrri, is not touristy, but has developed into a nightlife center. (If you are bothered by that, simply close the well-insulated windows and turn on the fan.) Renovations are planned this winter.

Room Tip: Higher floors may be quieter.

Small place. Fine if you dont mind LOUD music until after 2 in the morning or if your also out that late. Nice room and staff but theres a cafe/bar next to the hotel that didnt let us sleep. Great location and walkable to multiple train stations, flea markets, acropolis, agora, parliament, and almost anything, but tradeoff is the noise at night

We're happy that you enjoyed your stay. Unfortunately it's central Athens, it's full of life and when there's fun there's always noise. We hope to see you again.
Best Regards.
