This Museum displays Byzantine Artworks in chronological fashion.
It includes many icons and underlines how their styles evolved over time.

If you want to experience the history of Greece you need to see the Byzantine Museum. It covers the period after the Acropolis during the height of the Orthodox Church. It has one of the finest displays of ancient icons you will see. Small children will not enjoy it.

Make sure you don't miss this museum. An amazing collection of Byzantine and Christian art, by walking through this exhibition you follow the development of Byzantine and Christian art. An outstanding collection in what initially looks like an unasuming building.

Got to the museum at 3.10pm. Bought a ticket then said to the staff - going for a coffee. They didn’t mention that the museum closed at 4. Came out of cafe ( which is absolutely beautiful) at 3.35 - everything completely closed up. So beware everything closes at this time of the year v v early. I was so looking forward to visiting the museum. If only the staff had said we close at 3.30 - would have had a coffee later!!

Visited this museum on recommendation from hotel. Place was immaculate and with many amazing artefacts. I only spent an hour there but saw everything but you could easily spend longer if you read all the descriptions on every item.
A very well looked after museum.
