We actually moved from one hotel to the Electra Palace. (you can read my review of the other Athens hotel, if you feel the need).
The Electra Palace is one of five in this chain. Book through their website, as they guarantee the lowest price of all websites.
The lobby is huge, the staff is professional and courteous, the breakfast was impressive and the rooms (we booked two) were unbelievable!!
Bathrooms large, with a bidet. Beds very comfortable with larger rooms.
When on holidays, hotels are like real estate...... Location, location, location! Electra Palace is perfect.

My daughter and I had the pleasure to stay twice in this wonderful hotel on our last visit to Greece a couple of weeks ago. It is so hard to say what was best at this hotel. The swimming pool and restaurant overlooking the Acropolis, the super nice, efficient, and always willing to help reception staff, the nice breakfasts in the garden, or the comfortable rooms. This is a tough call because everything was amazing. We spent three nights upon arriving to Athens, then left to go to Paros island and then came back again for a couple of nights before coming back to Washington, DC. I was sad lo leave Greece, I was also sad to leave my good friends at the Electra Palace Hotel. We will return.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with views of the Acropolis.

An absolutely perfect location from which to explore the old sites of Athens and the lovely Plaka district with everything within a relatively easy walk.

The huge plus, though, is the nice rooftop swimming pool which enjoys a stunning view over the acropolis and is lovely to return to late afternoon to relax after a busy day out and about sightseeing ! A meal at the rooftop restaurant is also well worth it in the evening to watch the sunset and see the gradually changing evening light over the acropolis which becomes so nicely lit in the evening.

As with many big city centre hotels, the bedrooms are small and a little dark but fully functional with bath and bidet and the bed was really comfy. Breakfast was fine with really good fresh orange juice.

We revisited the excellent Brettos cocktail bar in Plaka on both our evenings and it remains one of the best cocktail bars in the world – the atmosphere is great and their gingertini is fantastic ! Would also much recommend a couple of tavernas – Cave of the Acropolis for lunch, just under the acropolis, and Scholario for lunch or dinner – both were great and excellent value – unlike most big cities, meals in Athens are actually very reasonable indeed.

A big thank you to George who checked us in and out and was really helpful throughout !

We stayed at Electra Palace 12 years ago and kept nice memories from this property until our last visit this summer. Apart from the central location and the stunning view over the Akropolis from the rooftop, the hotel has nothing of a "5-star" nor a "Palace". The breakfast is unacceptable: Lipton teas, bad coffee, canned fruit salads, well nothing fresh or homemade but only frozen and industrial food which does not even taste good. The service was highly disappointing: a non-smiling waitress at the bar, a receptionist throwing credit cards on the front desk to give it back to the client, housekeepers entering the room without even knocking or almost heating the clients when vacuuming the corridors. Bedding and rooms are correct although not modern but it has its charm. The pool has an amazing view but is really small, so do not expect to get seats easily, especially in high season. The property shows a dramatic lack of standards and definitely does not meet expectations for this category of properties. Definitely won't book this hotel anymore in the future.

The hotel is very well located. It is always our choice when we visit Athens. Good rooms, good bathrooms, plenty of amenities, nice and helpful staff, parking, wonderful breakfast and a pool on the 4th floor where you can swim while seeing the Acropolis!
