Exceeded expectations!
Top tips: Early is better, cooler and not so busy.
Wear a hat and sunglasses - even in 22C and sunny, it felt very hot, there is little shade at the top.
Take water, there are no refreshments at the top.
Wear shoes with a good grip, it can be slippery on the rocks on the climb up and at the top.

Amazing to visit, allow 2 to 3 hours minimum.

The best way up is to take the pedestrian road - Apostolou Pavlov. See all the sights and then go to the Acropolis museum afterwards. This way, all the things in the museum will make more sense and you can gather more info on all the monuments you have just seen. Also, go early to beat the crowds and I mean early - just as it opens. This makes such a difference. The atmosphere is wonderful when you have it all almost to yourself!

Such a great feel it is to be at this place. Excellent audio guide adds so much value to the ticket price. Don't miss the musium part and running on track.

History lovers would love this place. Go at opening times to avoid huge crowds and as it has lots of walking involved go with proper shoes.

Quite frankly one of the most beautiful ruins from antiquity. The walk up to the Parthenon is not easy but, with some ibuprofen and good hiking shoes, I was able to get to the top with two bad knees. There are informational plaques along the way to tell you what you are seeing. The Greeks are slowly working on restoring this magnificent place so there is scaffolding but, it does not detract from the sites beauty. The views are magnificent. There is an elevator to help the disabled get to the top but, one will need a doctor's certificate. Even so, the ground is uneven and rocky and those who are wheel chair bound will be limited somewhat even with the elevator.
