The Old Fort is a really friendly place to stay. it is homey and comfortable in a spectacular setting. We really enjoyed the food and the company of the staff at the hotel. There is a great balance between friendly, welcoming and helpful staff and peace and tranquility when you want it. Our room was amazing and we really enjoyed our stay! A good walk down into town means you are well into the quiet of the hills.

We live on Bequia and needed a few days away for our anniversary. There are other good hotels but the Old Fort is ideal for that special break. We wandered round the area and generally just chilled. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable, the staff helpful and attentive. We really felt at ease and at home. This is not the correct place if you want an air conditioned, sterile environment. You are cooled by the Trade Winds; there are animals, cats, dogs and donkeys, insects and birds and the most wonderful flora. This is real, not Disneyland!

Room Tip: They're all good!

Great place to stay and to relax with very personal service. Very friendly people. Great views to neighbouring islands. Remote and very quiet. We enjoyed the stay very much as well as the meals. Very helpful hosts.

The perfect combination of pampering and privacy is one element that makes The Old Fort unique. There are many others. After just one day, we felt like we were staying with friends at their amazing tropical historic estate. Around every turn is another, “Oh my gosh…” view, garden, or room! Quirin and Amber are wonderful hosts and take time to share their stories and listen to yours. They encourage you to explore and discover more about their property and Bequia itself. The photos of the place are true to life but being there exceeded expectations.
Through The Old Fort, we were fortunate to have Donovan as our “tour guide” around the island. He was a fount of information and tales of the island. He helped us out in many ways beyond driving us around. We are definitely glad we did not rent a car since it takes some extra skills to navigate the roads AND we benefited from Donovan’s expertise and suggestions.
We stayed in the Sun Room and it was glorious! Most of our days consisted of: the continental breakfast at The Old Fort, mornings at the pool, afternoons exploring the island, late lunch/early dinner somewhere, and then “home” to the honor bar and back to the pool again in the evening. Blissful relaxation.
We ate lobster almost every day including at “home” at The Old Fort at dinner. Delectable poolside lunches and other amazing dinners are available from the chef, too. Mac’s Pizza on Belmont is awesome! We are actually craving the meals and dining experiences that we had on Bequia now that we have returned to the states.
Amber arranged a snorkeling trip to the Tobago Cays with Captain Wayne – absolutely breathtaking! The Moonhole was cool, too. Easily the best coral we have ever witnessed (and the fish, starfish, and turtles were impressive, too!) It was the quiet season and not as many boats going out but she took the time to ensure that we had the experience.
The ferry to and from St. Vincent is super easy – just pay ($25 EC) right when you board after they stow your bags and climb up the stairs in eager anticipation for the journey.
The Old Fort, and Bequia itself, gives you the opportunity to “live like a local” and…after a day or two… wish that you were a local. We recommend it highly. Also…..cute kitty cats!

Upon our arrival at The Old Fort, the feeling of home and comfort immediately encompasses you. The staff greet you right away, and you feel like you've always belonged there. A very intimate setting high on the Brow of Mount Pleasant sits this historical fort with a view of the grenadines straight to Grenada on a clear day while enjoying a leisurely swim in the pool that goes beyond borders. The atmosphere is such that the need to lock your room becomes null, and a feeling of security, comfort and safety is a natural state of mind while being a welcomed a guest at this lovely Inn. At The Fort you have privacy, and a sensation that you feel more like a returning family member versus a new visitor to the grounds.
Bequia itself is a quaint island with hidden gems of beaches, restaurants, shops and vendors. The feeling of "tourist trap" is not present, and mingling with the locals and enjoying their lifestyle was easy to adjust to. I highly recommend this gorgeous piece of paradise in this lovely world of ours to be placed on any "bucket list". And to truly feel like you're sitting on top of the world and looking out at the magic and beauty of it all, choose "The Old Fort" as your resting place to put your head down at night while you're part of this magical land.
