There are a ton of pros to this place and only a few cons - long story short: I think this place is amazing for what you pay and what you get. The location could NOT be more beautiful. If you ever decide to take a paddle board, kayak, jet ski (or all three) out from the beach, you can see the magnificence of the property - up close, its a tiny bit ramshackle, but I think that only adds to the charm. From afar, this place looks like a mountainside beach paradise - and it is. The grounds around the cottages are amazing - hills and steep staircases where you can catch amazing views of the bay below, flowers EVERYWHERE (we visited in June) and wildlife everywhere you look. Our sunset cottage (#36) was breathtaking. The rooms are really simple, but I actually really love that at the beach. What else do you need besides a five star view? The patio is AMAZING and I'm so glad we were in a cottage with a pool overlooking the water. The bed was really uncomfortable, but I'm a good sleeper so I didn't mind. My partner is a terrible sleeper and had a difficult time. Apparently there is a pool and a second beach over on the busy side of the resort (haha), but we never cared to venture there. The beach by us was private, secluded, quiet, and stunning. Two of the six days there, there were only a few couples on the whole beach. The service down there was AMAZING (shout out to Jesse, Labriska, Janella, and Karima). I rented a paddle board from their local vendor, Peter, almost every day (he's such a great guy and has great boats/boards) and it provided such a unique and beautiful view of that slice of Antigua. The food - okay, I have to admit that my boyfriend and I are total food snobs. We are MAJOR foodies and have eaten in some of the best restaurants in the world, so take this with a grain of fresh pink Himalayan sea salt ;) - It's just okay. Breakfast, for me, is hard to mess up so I was satisfied with those, even if nothing was off the charts. Lunch and dinner were good, not great. We raved about one dish the entire week (some sort of seafood spaghetti - it was delicious), otherwise we found everything (especially the seafood) bland and disappointing. That being said, we didn't think much of it was "bad." The beach bar food is...not very good. And it's the same menu all week. So you're kind of resigned to crappy wings and sandwiches and microwave pizzas all week if you want to eat there. The beach bar will serve you food from the restaurant, which is nice, you just have to ask. There is no food in your room, which can make it a bit tough, especially if you're doing a lot of day drinking or sleep through a meal. It would have been great if they kept snacks or even just some fruit in there for you because once meal times are over - so are you. We ended up wishing we had brought some light snacks of our own. One note I feel I must make because this REALLY freaked us out - the curbside appeal of this place as you are pulling up is non existent. It's straight up sketchy. We were afraid we had made a terrible mistake while checking in because the front entrance is so beat up. But I promise, once you're on the beach side of the property, you never want to leave (literally, because then you'd have to go back through the entrance). So, for the money I think this place is great. I didn't give it five stars for two reasons: for an all inclusive resort, it stinks that the food wasn't very good. Also, the service, while GREAT in a lot of places, is just not fantastic all around. I would say the biggest and easiest thing this resort could do to up its level of luxury would be to improve their staff's professionalism and service - you would never see an eye roll or hear an audible sigh at a five star resort.

Room tip: Sunset cottages are amazingggggggg

Reminiscing about our beautiful time here in Aug of last year for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We wanted to get away with no kids and this couples only resort truly blew our expectations. It was perfect in every way! We spent 5 glorious days in heaven on earth here.

Upon check in we were greeted with their rum punch (wow!) and then we were driven to our sunset plunge pool cottage room in a golf cart with our luggage. This was great as I probably would have gotten lost trying to find the room. The door to the cottage was mainly hidden by foliage. It was like a beautiful secret garden cottage. The room was just magnificent and those views of the Caribbean ....ahhh I could go on for days!! The sunset plunge pool cottage is a must!!

The resort is simply stunning! Rustic vibes. Boutique style. Not big and fancy. Beautiful foliage throughout and views of that gorgeous Caribbean water everywhere you look! It is set in a cliff so ladies leave your heels at home! You will be doing lots of walking up and down paths to get to the restaurant and the beaches. It was like a workout everyday without trying!

The restaurant was very good! Yes there is only 1 but in my opinion that is all they needed as the food was always very good. It was not buffet style which I really liked and the main menu items changed so you did not get bored with the choices. There are designated breakfast, lunch, and dinner times. My recommendation is to try and go early so you do not have to wait to be seated. The service was always fantastic and the staff really make the experience so enjoyable. There is a bar and nightly entertainment at the restaurant too. When we were there they had a singer and a steel drum band which was very good and added to the laid back island vibe. The entertainment and bar closed early and then the resort was very quiet which was perfect as a couples resort. This is not an all night party resort. It is set up to give you time to unwind and reconnect.

We scheduled a private dinner on the beach for our anniversary and it far exceeded our expectations! This was an additional cost but so worth it! If you are able to it is a must! Champagne is included and the dinner menu was different than the rest of the restaurant. The service again was fantastic and the setup was very romantic!

There are 2 beaches you can access from this resort. Jolly Beach and Valley Church Beach. They both have beach bars. Our favorite was the quieter more private Valley Church Beach. There was only ever a couple other people there. It was a hidden treasure!

Thank you to Cocos and their staff for making our stay at this piece of paradise truly unforgettable!

Wow, not sure where to begin. So I will say that the reviews on COCOS were spot on but when we arrived to the resort it was much better! If you are looking for modern or contemporary fancy shmancy décor and pristine landscaping this is not the place for you. The best I can describe this resort is rustic, quaint, comfortable and well maintained. With only 34 bungalows, for only a couple for each, the beaches never were full. Never a wait for any meals and a nice variety of food choices for each meal which changed each day but the excellent wait staff was definitely a plus. The one restaurant has 3 seating areas, all open air and all with a beautiful view that never got old. The climb to any of the bungalows I would say requires some effort. We did not mind at all because it gave us an opportunity to walk off all the food and drink we had been indulging in all week. We opted for wine in our room rather than liquor and we went home with a bottle every night and more if needed. Every morning Sandy knew exactly what to start us off with for drinks and never hesitated to be charming each day! There were so many wonderful staff members whom I would like to shout out to and those I don't mention, please don't be offended: My shout outs, no doubt, go to Sandy, Janella, Kerry Ann, Jesse, Inizia and Shereen. These were my pals all week! Now for pretty much private water sports you will definitely want to trust Lyndon and Peter on the beach for sailing, snorkeling trip and paddle boards.

I so much would love to give Cocos five stars to adequately reflect the wonderful time we generally had. However, we had a disappointing experience at the end of our stay which unfortunately has taken a little bit off the glow of how we feel about this resort.
Make no mistake, my husband and I spent 6 nights in paradise here. The location, the views, the friendliness of the staff, the two gorgeous beaches (we were struggling to decide which one we preferred but I suppose the slightly quieter one at Valley Church won by a whisker!) – it really was an out-of-this-world experience!
We had booked a sunset cottage and were allocated #16 – kind of in the middle of the hill with views to die for. The numbering of the cottages follows no obvious logic by the way – ours was next to #7 and #25 if I recall rightly. We had originally booked a standard cottage but then upgraded as we were celebrating our anniversary. To be honest, we could not spot a cottage with a bad view in the entire resort… maybe some of the standard cottages may have a bit more vegetation in front of them but looked lovely anyway. Also, those facing Jolly Beach may get a little bit more noise from evening activities at the big hotel but unless you insist on being fast asleep by 9pm I can’t see how this would be an issue; and you would still get beautiful sunset views on the Jolly Beach side of the resort as the sun actually went down over that beach while we were there in May.
As for the cottage’s interior, we really liked ours. Yes, of course, there is wear and tear at close inspection but that is almost impossible to avoid in a tropical climate. We liked the double vanity in the bathroom (no fighting for the sink required!), although I could have done with a make-up mirror and more than one light bulb in the evening (there were five light fittings above the mirror – please supply more than one bulb or applying make-up becomes a rather haphazard task after dark!!!) The room also had a safe, an iron, a hair-dryer, a kettle (although no coffee machine, only instant sachets, and no sweeteners although you could pick up sachets at the restaurant) and our mini-bar was restocked daily based on the preferences we indicated at check-in (a very efficient system). Housekeeping was prompt and excellent (usually done by the time we returned from breakfast).
Apart from the natural beauty all around, one of the outstanding features of Cocos’ is everybody’s friendliness. That includes staff (and not only the front-facing ones) just as much as most of the other guests staying there. When we were there, around two thirds of guests appeared to be from the US with the rest being made up of British, Italian and Russian visitors – ages ranging from honeymoon couples in their 20s to couples in their 60s; everybody was very easy to chat to, whether it was at the beach bar or the restaurant in the evening, but without feeling obliged to “fraternise” if you wanted to keep yourself to yourself – very relaxed! Of the staff our favourites were Stephen (Valley Church beach bar), Loreen at breakfast (don’t give up on those driving lessons, Ma’am!), Lucinda and Franklin at dinner, and, of course, the irrepressible Jesse! On our second-last night, we mentioned to Lucinda that it would be our anniversary on our last night. When we arrived for dinner that night, she had arranged a beautiful table decorated with gorgeous purple flowers right by the railings and a bucket with some chilled bubbly waiting for us!
Check-out was easy, there are courtesy rooms with showers if you have a late departure. The spa is in a wonderful location directly above the bay; hubby and I had a couple’s sacred stone massage with Patricia and Maria which was sheer bliss.
What disappointed us a little bit – especially after the rave reviews we had read – was the food. We were there for six nights and both the breakfast and some dinner offerings became fairly repetitive (the four sweets never changed nor did the wines on offer - three reds, three whites and one rose – none of which was terribly to our liking). None of the starters really appealed to us, either, but in fairness, the restaurant lets you pick a main for a starter if you wish (numerous guests were picking the pasta dish on the mains menu as their starter, including us). While we definitely prefer a la carte to buffets, it might be a good idea for the restaurant to consider a mixture – maybe a salad and a dessert buffet with the main course being a la carte. We have stayed in hotels around the world where this worked very well. The main courses, especially the fish, were usually very tasty albeit unexciting in terms of sauces or spices. Equally, the snack menu, which is available in the bars, restaurant and even in-room is nice but only features a few items and never changed while we were there. Service was definitely on island-time!
Unfortunately we have had a disappointing experience in the end. I had left out my travel clothes in the wardrobe so that they would be as fresh as possible when putting them in my carry-on bag to change into at the airport (who wants to wear heavy jeans when it’s 30 degrees Celsius and you still have six hours to kill before your flight?) To cut a long story short, I only discovered at the airport that I had left my jeans and shirt behind in the wardrobe. It was too late to return to the hotel. I tried to call them but couldn’t get through so sent them an email from the airport, which I followed up with numerous emails since my return. I apologised profusely for my mistake and for the inconvenience I was causing by asking for my clothes to be posted to me, and of course offered to refund any postage costs they incurred. I got one email from Jennifer informing me they found the jeans and thought my shirt was in the hotel laundry. However, she never replied to any further emails from me and I am still waiting to find out if I will be able to get my clothes back.
I know this is really silly. It was clearly my mistake and I feel bad for being such a forgetful idiot. However, the jeans and shirt are not only my favourite travel clothes (really comfy and the only pair I can wear on long flights) but also hold great sentimental value for me. I have offered repeatedly to recompense Cocos for any costs of returning them to me (even if it costs more than the actual monetary value of the clothes). I am disappointed that the excellent and very personalised customer service that we experienced from all staff at Cocos during our stay appears to have ended at the point of checkout. I can’t blame the hotel for not being interested in requests from former guests (although we were planning to become repeat visitors) but I had hoped Cocos was better than that. What a shame.

Room tip: We had Sunset Cottage 16 which was lovely and not too arduous to get to.

This rustic and quaint resort was perfect for my husband and I to celebrate our 20th anniversary. If you are looking for an all-inclusive adult/couples only destination with a relaxed atmosphere, gorgeous beaches, friendly staff, excellent/personal service, and AMAZING food/drink, consider Cocos Hotel. If you are looking for a lively/loud, party atmosphere with activities at every turn, this is not for you. You can certainly book a variety of excursions, and the staff will help you with that, but you might find that you are content with staying at the resort. There are two beaches. Jolly Beach, is a little busier of the two because there is a larger resort neighboring Cocos. We, by far, preferred Valley Church Beach which is a bit more quiet and just gorgeous! When the cruise ships dock, the neighboring section of this beach does get crowded, which we only experienced once, and it was for a limited time. There several local vendors offering jet ski rides, etc. on both beaches. The vendors are all very nice, but again we favored the ones on Valley Church Beach, specifically Linden, who has a small boat and can take you snorkeling at Cades Reef or an evening cruise for two. He even made us a delicious conch dish on our last day. The pool is nice. I was the only person there both times I went in the afternoon. The beaches are definitely where we wanted to be though. Be aware that there is a bit of walking and the resort is on the side of a hill, so there are hills and steps and you will either have a short distance to walk to the restaurant or to the beach, or both, depending on where your cottage is. If you have mobility issues, this would NOT be a good fit. We personally looked forward to the walking because of how much we ate and drank! I would suggest you bring cash for tips and also for purchases outside of the resort. Most likely, if you buy something with US cash, your change will be in EC currency, then you can tip with/spend that EC money. Both can be used and are welcomed, but we were informed that if the US bills are torn in any way, their banks will reject them. Do not give especially worn, or any torn, bills and do not be offended if the US money you give someone is closely inspected. Highly recommend Cocos and hope we can go back!!
