Amazing hotel adults only all inclusive.
On the top of the hill in front of the best beach of the island. Food is Michelin star quality and the staff extremely helpful and friendly. Drinks are amazing and good variety to choose from. Location is wowwwww provides access to two beaches both amazing. The external showers are the cherry on top. Amazing sunset views from most cottages and extremely comfortable beds. Massage is included in the package for free. One of the best hotels we ve ever stayed. Congratulations to the chef

So from June 10th to the 16th , I stayed at Coco’s Hotel in Antigua. This hotel and staff was beyond my expectations. It is an all inclusive hotel and everything you asked for the staff delivered. The meals were so good and the cocktails were yummy. The views from my room were to die for and I can’t say enough about the staff there they were exceptional. The beaches were pristine and was the most relaxing environment you can find. I will be coming back to this hotel and highly recommended it.

I just returned from a week' s stay at Cocos Hotel in Antigua. Although this hotel is a couples only, all-inclusive experience, which is wonderful, it is a smaller boutique hotel, so don't expect numerous amenities despite a pricey stay (no room service, TV, etc.). All cottages are on the hilltop, so there is quite the hike up and down steep inclines and stairways to get anywhere, including the beach, but once you see the view from your cottage, you can see why Cocos is an expensive stay... location, location, location! The almost panoramic view of the aquamarine Caribbean Sea and beautiful beaches is incredible, just breathtaking! We stayed in a sunset pool cottage, and the infinity pool overlooking the sea was wonderful for relaxing on those very hot afternoons. All cottages face west, and the view of nightly sunsets is amazing! The hotel grounds keeping staff as well as the maintenance staff has done a wonderful job landscaping and maintaining the paths, so at least the hikes were scenic. You may also see resident mongoose and very polite stray cats anywhere along the way... very entertaining and a welcome diversion from the strenuous walks! The cats may also greet you in the restaurant at mealtimes. They are adorable, and as I said, very polite... they will come up to you only if called... no begging behavior (then again, my husband and I are cat people, so we enjoyed their company)!
For the most part, the staff was very friendly and accommodating to any request. Some of the servers in the restaurant were friendlier than others, and on some days they seemed to be angry and arguing among themselves, and that made them come across as a bit abrupt and rude at times. Some days we had great service, and other days not so much. It all depended on which server we got! The food was good to very good, but sit back and relax at mealtimes because the service can be a tad slow. Meals often took two hours, so if you're in a hurry you will get frustrated waiting... just know you are on island time! While you wait, enjoy a cup of the local hot "bush tea." It is excellent!!!!!!
The cottages are rustic and rooms are sparsely furnished; however, the housekeeping staff is excellent! Our room remained very clean and tidy throughout our stay with their daily refresh service. We never had to ask for towels, etc., as housekeeping brought them to our room daily. There was also a daily refill in the rooms of snacks (nuts, chips, cookies) and drinks in the mini fridge (water, sodas), which was a nice treat. There was a pot for boiling water if you wanted a cup of tea or instant coffee. Rooms are air conditioned with a ceiling fan, but the small AC unit had a hard time keeping up with the afternoon heat (we found closing both the bedroom and restroom doors helped keep the main room cooler). I usually take a travel sized fan with me on vacations, and I'm glad I did on this trip as the extra air flow really helped me sleep at night. Showers are outdoors (very secluded, so no worries you can be seen). The shower wound up being one of my favorite things about the room! How great is it to shower outdoors while gazing at the Caribbean, especially at sunset?! Free WiFi is also available to those who can't remain off the Internet or social media during their stay (my husband)!
I spent most of my time on the smaller Valley Church Beach closest to our cottage. It was preferable to the much more crowded, larger and noisier Jolly Beach near the restaurant at the opposite end of the hotel. For the most part, Valley Church Beach was quiet and good for relaxation, but know that the hotel is currently adding on and doing renovations, so you will hear some construction noise. Also, very loud jet skis will race by at top speeds as guys went back and forth among the various beaches in the area every few minutes trying to get business, and, in my opinion, a little too close to the beach and swimming area at Cocos. That was highly annoying to me! There are also local vendors allowed on the beach who offer various excursions, and some could be over solicitous on a daily basis. That got annoying as well when all I wanted to do was relax and enjoy the beautiful beach and Caribbean Sea. I would've appreciated it if the desire for peace and quiet had been respected a bit more... I grew tired of having to say NO! One of the guys also tried to get free drinks from us... very irritating. While we understood completely that the vendors are just trying to earn a living, we felt their access to our beach should have been more regulated and limited to specific times, etc. Also, if you go to Cocos, be aware that cruise ship day trippers descend on the beach on Tuesdays. This day was a scene from a horror movie! The crowds and the noise were straight from hell! Most of us on the beach that day were taken by surprise as the office did not warn us this would happen. Had they at least told us, we would've been prepared or would've perhaps taken an excursion that day rather than be subjected to the screaming children and constant roar of jet skis and small boats for hours. At least drinks were included in the stay because we needed all the alcohol we could get that day!
Speaking of drinks, the bartenders were awesome. We had several, so I don't want to mention names for fear of leaving one of them out! Drinks are served in very small juice-sized glasses, so if you want more booze at a time, take your own travel mugs... bartenders were happy to fill them for us. Early afternoon and evening snacks were delivered to the beach daily. That was very nice. Often there were few people at the beach, so my husband and I wound up being served most of the food. There were many days that we hardly needed to go to the restaurant for a meal as we were so full from all the snacks! By the way, extra beach towels are available at the bar.
An important thing you need to know about the beach if you are prone to insect bites is that the sand flies/fleas are HORRIBLE! I was eaten alive most days. Fortunately, the hotel had stocked rooms with insect repellent and that helped somewhat, but know that biting insects was a problem for some guests. The insects also prevented many evenings of lounging on our deck... after a while, it just wasn't worth fighting them! To combat the problem, I stayed in the water most of the time. Luckily, the water was clear and beautiful, so at least it was a pleasant escape, and I had Benadryl with me, which helped my allergic reaction no end! However, I left Antigua covered in numerous very itchy bites that I am still dealing with.
If you are a shopper, there is no gift shop at the hotel. You will have to walk over to Jolly Beach where there is a souvenir shop in the hotel next to Cocos or take a cab to a shopping area. We walked over to the souvenir shop, and it was gracious sufficient for tee shirts, etc., or you could just wait until you get back to the airport to make purchases. It had several decent duty free gift shops stocked with the exact same merchandise.
If you are a night owl, there is no nightlife at Cocos aside from the Thursday night beach party on Jolly Beach. This didn't begin until 9:30 PM, too late for my husband and I as we are early risers and were often in bed before then! We could've cared less about the lack of nightly entertainment! In fact, we liked that Cocos was so quiet once the sun went down!
My only real complaint about Cocos' management is that we were given no general information sheet upon check in as most resorts do, nor was there an information sheet in the rooms, so we spent the first day or two having to ask about everything including mealtimes and location, WiFi password, where to get beach towels, etc. Some guests may have received this information up front, but we did not. We just sort of stumbled through and asked other guests who had been there a few days before us and had figured things out. Also, upon check in, my husband asked about SCUBA diving. This is his passion, and he goes on dive trips almost daily while on vacation. The young girl who checked us in knew nothing about it and even told us that there were no SCUBA trips in the area, only snorkeling. We knew better, but my husband had to spend an inordinate amount of his time tracking down a dive shop willing to come pick him up. He finally lucked upon a lady in the front office who was willing to help him out in finding a company (I wish he could remember her name so that I could thank her specifically in this review as she helped save the vacation for my husband). We just felt that Cocos could have had better information and customer service for guests who are paying thousands of dollars a week to stay at their hotel. Another guest we met on the beach was in a similar position regarding SCUBA and had spent his entire week with no help from Cocos trying to track down a dive shop who would work with him as most companies will only go out with a minimum of two paying divers. For this reason, I'd like to give a shout out to Jolly Dive, an awesome husband and wife team and local dive outfit that not only were willing to take out just one person, but also were willing to go out 7 days a week, which is not typical. In fact, the dive shop number is their cell number, so they can be reached at all times. They came and got my husband at the hotel and pulled their boat right up to the beach so that he just had to hop on and go! He went diving three days of our vacation and had a wonderful time. Again, a big thanks to the ONE office staff individual who helped my husband track down Jolly Dive via a Google search! So if you SCUBA dive, yes, there is diving in the area despite what you're told at the front desk!
Aside from the lack of information, there were a few problems with water availability as the storage tanks got drained for whatever reason, but they had it fixed fairly quickly. The pool pumps on all the cottages also went out a few days before we left. You could still use the pool, but the insects were very drawn to the still water! We did meet the owner of Cocos as he was out walking the entire property trying to troubleshoot. He was a very pleasant man and quite comical. We appreciated his dedication in trying to insure his guests were not overly inconvenienced with the maintenance issues.
Overall, despite the annoyances, occasional maintenance matters, and lack of info, which can be issues at any hotel or resort, we truly had a wonderful time and were very pleased with our stay at Cocos, and we highly recommend the hotel... you cannot beat the location and the view. If you don't mind a rustic cottage and just want time to unwind, this is a great place. If you prefer posh and lots of activities and amenities, you will be disappointed. Nonetheless, even luxurious resorts would have a hard time competing with this location and this view, which offers guests a little piece of paradise!

Room tip: Pay a bit extra and get a sunset pool cottage. You will enjoy the infinity pool when you want a break from the beach!

Our stay at COCOS was amazing. We enjoyed so many things in our short stay there. We were limited on time and were worried about having too little time, but we loved our trip. We stayed at COCOS for four nights, but had 5 days at the hotel. We enjoyed the food very much, but I will tell anyone that is a picky eater should make plans to eat out some as well. My husband is a very picky eater and was limited on the things he preferred while we were there. Also, I didn’t remember ready this in other’s reviews, but be ready to do a lot of hiking their hills to get to and from your room. It wasn’t horrible, but just not expected by us. We did just fine, but were definitely sore after the first day. It was a great leg workout! ;)

Excursions: we hooked up with Dave on the beach and he set us up with all of the things we wanted to do while we were there. We went to Stingray City, which is a must. We also saw Devil’s Bridge, went to Shirley Heights on Sunday, fished with Aaron, and did the circumnavigation on the Excellence yacht. The only thing we didn’t do was snorkeling at Cade’s Reef and we heard it was amazing!

If you are looking for an intimate, more-rustic vacation with your significant other, this is the place to be!

Recently spent a week at Coco's and LOVED IT! While I loved Coco's and continue to tell my friends to visit, the hubby and I personally viewed this as a 3 Star Hotel. Some may rate Coco's higher based on their experiences and preferences and that's ok too! To help people make the best choice, I'll break it down as to why it's either a 3 Star Boutique Hotel or a 4 Star Rustic Hotel.

Why we rated Coco's a 3 Star Hotel:

1) No room service. I just spent a little over $5k (excluding taxes/flights) for a room for
10 days; offer room service. At least breakfast. No room service is typical for 3 Star
Hotels. It's ok if you don't offer it but it's misleading to describe a facility with,
"luxury" and not offer this service. It's not listed anywhere on their website that they
do not offer room service.

2) Food was inconsistent. There were a few times we didn't get part of our
breakfast/lunch/dinner order. One of us would order a salad for lunch and an entree,
and just get the entree. There were times they ran out of desserts and or other
items on the menu. Breakfast was always delicious but Dinner was sometimes
inconsistent on taste...had some desserts that missed the mark. Like soupy coconut
creme brulee. It was weird because it was like soup.

3) The grounds were a bit messy. There were often trays of dirty dishes, towels, etc.
set on top of wooden garbage cans that would sit out there for the majority of the
day. As you walk around, you'll see broken light posts on the path, random light
bulbs on the ground, and litter. If that was my hotel, I'd hire a Brand Ambassador
who's main job is to walk around ensuring the place looks on point. Taking notes of
broken lights, trash that needs to get picked up etc. There were also multiple beach
chairs that had huge rips in them with their stuffing coming out. Lastly, take the
product sticker off the toilet. Small details but things a hotel can do that won't cost
them anything but helps take their grounds to another level.

4) Amenities. There's no gym and I wouldn't expect one at this type of island hotel,
and that's ok. However, give me an iron and ironing board so I can wear some of
the nice outfits I packed. Clean the cobwebs out of my cottage windows...make
sure the beach areas always have towels...They also need newer A/C units. They
work but they're very loud and don't get all the humidity out. So you can be cold and
damp, or hot and humid.

5) Food Service. Overall, service was very good. However, there were a small handful
of servers who seemed annoyed when you asked them for things. They weren't
outwardly rude, but they didn't smile. But once again, the majority of servers were

While the above may sound negative, it's not. These are just our opinions of why we wouldn't describe our experience as luxury. We still think it's a great, 3 Star Hotel.

Why it's a 4 Star Rustic Hotel:

1) If you like rustic, this is for you. The cottages were quaint with almost all of them
having breathtaking views! The bed was a bit uncomfortable for us but the overall
room was beautiful with the mosquito nets and dark wood.

2) There's only one restaurant and they bang out a lot of meals for a small kitchen! I
was impressed that they worked out of one tiny kitchen for all meals. I was also
impressed on the variety of dishes. It's not easy getting produce and other items to
an island. The kitchen was also efficient from a food yield perspective. As an
example, they were good at utilizng everything. For lunch you'd see a tomato
cream sauce and fish...and for dinner the pasta would be Bow Ties, Tomato Cream
Sauce, and Basil.

3) Outdoor showers facing the ocean! Loved this...enough said.

4) No televisions :). I loved that the rooms didn't have t.v.'s and offered a variety of
books in the lobby area. It felt great being unplugged but if you do want to plug in,
the wi-fi was surprisingly good!

5) Management; they were awesome. In general the staff tries to help you with any
requests you may have. They know you by your name and will check in with you
through out your visit.

6) It's quiet. I loved how quiet it was. No matter where we were, it didn't feel like there
were a lot of people there. If you like peace and quiet, this is the place for you.

As you can see, there's a few ways to view this hotel. For the price, we didn't feel we got our full value's worth. There were some things that just didn't align with paying roughly $500 a night. However, one can argue that you pay for the location (right on a cliff facing the ocean and close beach access), the quietness, and "trend," meaning, no t.v.'s, outdoor showers, etc...
