This review is long over due. We had the pleasure of spending a day with Joao in the Douro region last year. Joao is a great driver and guide. He is very knowledge about the region and its wine. He planned a full day for us that allowed us to experience the varied aspects of the region from a large wine producer to the wine produced by a couple for person consumption. He also made arrangements so that we could try some of the best freshly baked bread that I have ever had. We not only got to experience the region by land but also by water through a boat ride on the Douro. The scenery was amazing throughout and the lunch was delicious. I look forward to booking another trip with Joao on a future trip to the region.

We saw a lot in one full day! 2 port wine producers with tastings, lunch, boat ride, stops for photo opportunities. Excellent guide - very knowledgeable about the region - a good look at how people live in the region. Highly recommend this full day tour.

Hands down the most beautiful region during this time of year. Our guide was extremely knowlegable and friendly. We were able to see so much and filled the day with exploration of the Duoro Valley. Highly recommend.

I would highly recommend the Douro Valley and Wine tour with Tiago! This was our first big activity after arriving in Porto and it was definitely a highlight of the trip. The tour picked us up and dropped us off at the apartment we were staying at which was so convenient. The van ride to the valley was comfortable with two other couples. Our first stop was a coffee shop and bakery where we got a quick breakfast and enjoyed a walk across the Regua bridge. We then drove to our first winery which was beautiful and included both a tour and tasting. We then stopped by a local restaurant for a delicious lunch and dessert. The rest of the day was spent touring other spots such as an old train station with beautiful tiles, our boat ride down the Douro river (amazing!! So peaceful and absolutely breathtaking!), a few awesome viewpoints, walked through a local vineyard and tried some grapes, and lastly stopped at an adorable and unique local wine museum for another tasting. It was a fun filled day and Tiago was the best guide giving us information about the area and engaging in fun conversation. I loved this tour and think it is a must-do if you’re in the area.

We booked our tour just a few days before to arrive in Porto. João was very responsive on mail, picked us up on time, showed us great sights on the way and clearly loves the Douro valley. The size of the group is just right and João makes a point to keep the conversation going. We really appreciated the care he took at meal times to order a dessert for our 12 year old daughter and a cold drink as she wasn’t obviously tasting wine. The lunch is excellent, the visits to the wine estate perfect, the trip on the boat the right length and a really good value for the price paid. Happy with the choice of the tour company. Now on we’re going to value the work behind making Porto wine each time we have one.
