Located close but not in the Busy tourist activity just up river. Conveniently located on the #500 bus and trolley lines. The trolley museum and a nice grocery store is just a block down river. Newly renovated. Helpful staff conversant in many languages including English. A nice breakfast and bar.

On tram route but only a 15 minute walk into the Riberia area. It was great being a little bit out of the centre, very peaceful with river views and the hotel and staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful.

I enjoyed my 3 night stay in Vila Galé Ribeira. The hotel is small but cosy with a good breakfast and very gentle and helpful staff. I will hesitate to return because I did not like the policy that you pay all of your stay at check-in.

This is an enchanting hotel right on the tram route and a beautiful walk into the centre of town is about 25 minutes. Book a room over looking the river, slightly noisier when the tram trundles by below (it only runs in the day) but a great view! Excellent staff with good English and a great breakfast, including my family’s favourite lady on the Egg Station - perfect omelettes!

It's a lovely hotel on the river with a 20 minute walk to the busy area of Ribiera, 30 minutes to Sao Bento Station.
There are a few local bars within a few metres,to the right is a small fish restaurant grilling fish over coals outside on the pavement, over the road there's a couple of small cafés, the second one along "cafeteria Portilho" is very nice with inexpensive snacks and drinks. To the left of the hotel there are a couple of expensive drink bars they didn't appeal to us.
The hotel breakfast is good with plenty of choice. Staff are friendly and helpful, delightful ladies making the omelets at breakfast. The room was quiet with river views at an extra cost. The downside of the hotel for us was the open plan toilet bathroom area, the toilet door is a badly fitting glass panel with no lock and gaps to the sides, the "door" is 6ft high, the ceiling is 8ft so there's a space above the door of 2ft, OK if you don't want any privacy, a nightmare if you do.
The bar is too quite at night and one look at the price list tells you why.
Would we return ?
a firm no on a few accounts.
