Negatives:
- I booked more than 2 months in advance, a special superior room with view and a queen- or king size bed. But we got 2 singles and no possibility to get a bigger bed?! So apparently; book half a year in advance, or take the suite, if you want to be close to your special someone!
- The cleaning was not thorough, since there was a cigaret-butt and some plastic things on the floor when we checked in.
- The bathroom is really dated! From the 60's or something...
- There was only "shower gel/shampoo 2in1" in the room... which is not normal in a 4* hotel?
- The pool in spa needs a good scrub! And some repairs...
- You need to wear a swim-cap/bonnet while using the pool? But that's a Portuguese rule apparently - Not a hotel-policy
- the duvets didn't have covers! It was just a sheet under the duvet, and a blanket on top... and there was only 1 pillow
Positives:
- The massage is one of the best I've ever had in my life!
- The staff was friendly and also apologetic about our issue with the twin-beds. But they didn't do anything about it though.
- The breakfast was okay (not worth 4* though)
- The location and ocean-view is great.
- The Casino Next door is great
- The restaurant 100 m away has great fish!
- It's close to the train station if you want to get to Porto cheap and easily. (1,85€ I think)
It is definitely not a 4 star hotel for me. But the price kinda gives that away, so we weren't expecting the deluxe experience. But not having a queen or king size bed available, for a booking made 2 months in advance, for a superior quality room, and in a half empty hotel is the reason I'll never book here again.
But if you want a place, that is a nice central base, for a good summer-vacation, with excellent massage, and great ocean view, this is the place to book - As long as you don't mind old bathrooms, average breakfast buffet, weird linnen-solutions on twin beds, in a Hotel that needs a massive face-lift.
