We decided to book two nights in this traditional Quinta at the start of our 10 day exploration of Madeira. What a truly fabulous beginning to our holiday this gem of a place proved to be!
This magnificent, traditional, time-capsule of refinement hidden away in its immense grounds in the quiet residential suburbs of Funchal is a real treat! It like stepping into a stately home. The staff are very well trained but not at all pretentious, the atmosphere is charming and relaxed.
The grounds are full of wonderful mature plants and trees. It’s a bit like a staying in a National Trust property set in a tropical forest.
Breakfast was in the airy, spacious conservatory at the front of the main building with a wide selection to cater for both continental and more traditional English tastes. Everything is of a high quality and delicious. The serving staff again were truly great. In some ways one could imagine they had just left the filmset of an Agatha Christie piece and started serving.
If you are looking for peace, refinement and tranquility far from the heaving masses of the mainstream hotel chains then look no further. Of course there is a price to pay but in my opinion it is more than worth it. Faultless!More
