Just returned from a totally enjoyable stay at the Casino Park. We were on half board and found the food to be above expectations. The plate removal was a little on the swift side which amused us initially but became slightly annoying after a while as we were often chewing out last mouthful as they were whisked away. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful at all times. The rooms are undeniably dated and the corridors are a bit dismal and luggage damage to fittings is pretty extensive. That said, once we became familiar with our surroundings we didn't notice these defects so much. Overall I would say it was good value for money and if you are planning a visit I think you could do a lot worse. We would definitely consider a second stay if we return to Funchal and there is every possibility that we will.

Overall we did enjoy our visit to the hotel after reading other reviews we lowered our expectations. Pool gardens, views and breakfast all very good. Staff friendly sort out any issues quickly . In its day it had been a 5 star hotel but not anymore the rooms are clean we had a huge bed and a great harbour view watching the cruise ships come and go. Rooms really need bringing into the 21st century really don’t like a shower curtain touching me in the shower and space very narrow in the shower and I’m quite small. Rooms need to be brighter and fresher looking. Funchal is amazing can’t wait to go back. For an excellent meal please try the Earnest Hemingway it’s about 5 minuets left from hotel you won’t be disappointed
I think like us you would enjoy your stay here knowing what to expect in advance wouldn’t take much to bring it up to expectations of a 4-5 star hotel. So enjoy.

Would definitely stay again, the staff were all very friendly, courteous and always acknowledged you. Food very good a lot of choice for breakfast. Dockside Bar is great, food also very good. Poolside staff very helpful

Just returned from a week in this well located imposing hotel. It’s positioning at the top of quite a big hill gives impressive views across the cruise terminal and across the bay. It also means that when you walk into town that it’s all downhill until you come back.
Great parade of cafes and restaurants directly opposite the hotel, and down a little side road less than 50 metres away there is a well stocked supermarket open til late.
The inside spaces of the hotel are vast, with a huge open lounge and bar area and outside terrace. The restaurant is also huge opening onto the pool, terrace and gardens and is light and airy but sadly no aircon.
Indoor and outdoor pools are immaculate as are the gardens.
We found all of the staff very welcoming & very helpful.
Breakfast is fabulous, a large Buffett with a wide range of foods and drinks with a glass of bubbles included if you wish. The are is spotless & the food of great quality.
Lots of seating & sun loungers around the pool and gardens & overlooking the cruise ships.
We booked a sea view but whilst we could kind of see the sea our main view from our 4ty floor balcony was of a large hotel construction site. The room was spacious with 2 beds pushed together. A large safe is fitted and there is no charge for this. Room has a fridge and a small TV. No kettle in the room but you can call reception & a tray including cups, kettle and enough for 2 teas is brought up. Should you require a restock the charge is €5. Take your own teabags & get milk from the supermarket & you’ll be perfectly set up.
One single wardrobe with 5 wooden hangers in , you can call housekeeping for additional hangers which come quickly but strangely did not fit the rail. We were there for a week for a wedding so had quite a lot of formal clothes. I had packed some wire dry cleaning hangers so used those.
Small TV in the room with 2 available power sockets for all of your chargers etc. Strangely you can hear the people in the room next door talking through these if nothing is plugged in.
Tv has lots of English channels on if you wish and the usual news channels.
Separate bathroom and toilet which contains a bidet. Glass window from bathroom into the bedroom with a wooden Venetian blind. Shower over bath & double sink. All perfectly ok but very tired and I was advised we were in a refurbished room. Sofa and foot stool in room plus 2 seats on balcony.
Carpet in room looked very old and was clearly hard to vacuum as it was very fluffy and had trapped lots of hair etc in it. My friends on floor 1 had wooden floors in their room but the rooms seemed smaller.
The room seemed tired but perfectly adequate. The beds, however, did not give any of us good sleep whatever floor we were on & the pillows although huge were very lumpy and need replacing. Linens were ok.
Housekeeping were great & very friendly & efficient as were all the staff on the front desk.
It’s a very clean & spacious hotel in a great location . Overall it is a lovely hotel but the rooms in particular the bathrooms need more than a basic refresh.
We would stay here again.

Stayed here in July of this year.
This Hotel needs a serious interior remodel. The reception area is fine and spacious but the bedrooms and upper floor corridors could do with a facelift. The AC is non-existent!!
The pool area is great with a nice outdoor bar/restaurant.
The breakfast is the best part of the hotel. Plenty of variety. They also provide an early breakfast bar for those early check outs or late night revelers :)
