“Down to the sea in ships”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2012

A well presented panorama of National Pride, covering the great era of Portuguese navigation. Interesting mix of model ships and full size royal barges etc. Well curated and inviting displays

“Very well done museum!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2012

We just loved this museum. It's very well done, incredibly interesting with surprising tidbits throughout. Educational and really fun at the same time. We recommend it! Give yourself at least 2 hours (and we used the Yellow Bus to go...the museum is free on Sundays!)

“Sunday morning well spent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2012

The "Museu de Marinha"- the Maritime Museum Lisbon, is actually in Belem, part of Greater Lisbon. The museum has a permant display of a vast slection of commercial, military, leisure and royal navigation items, ranging from small models of traditional fishing vessels to the magnificent life-size royal barges. The entrance, like for most of the Portoguese museum is, on Sundays, free from opening at 10:00h until 14:00h.It is definitely a Sunday morning well spent. And after a - then necessary - refreshment in the rstaurant, pass under the "Marginal", the 4-lane road along the coast as far as Cascais, and admire the monumental hommage to the great Portuguese explorers.

“Interesting exhibition”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2012

There are many barges with their history in the exhibition. We were also lucky enough to time our visit to coincide with a celebration of the first crossing of the Southern Atlantic by plane which was very interesting.
