“No idea why others gave it such high ratings”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2012

This is a very average hotel.

Location: not in the centre - you need to take the metro (just outside the main entrance) and then 10 - 15 minutes later you'll be in town.

There is nothing around the hotel. No restaurants worthy of mention. No nice cafés (there is just the one outside the hotel, average quality) and the area is quite empty.

Rooms: small and bad quality pillows. Beds are ok.

Wifi: you have to pay 10 euros per day or 5 euros for 3 hours.

Price: way too expensive for what it offers. I have stayed in better hotels in Lisbon and other cities in Portugal for half the price. Their usual rate is 150 euros per night. You can get offers on some websites for 75 euros, and other hotels are much better for that offer price.

Food: there is just a bar with a very limited choice of food. Really bad quality and incredibly expensive (4 slices of pizza, from the kind you buy frozen at a supermarket, for 8 euros).

Room Tip: Rooms with a view to the front. The ones facing the back just show you a rather grey view of the bac...

We chose this hotel because of the price and the amenities it offered, so we were willing to put up with it being a bit off the beaten track from the sites. The hotel itself is very modern, comfortable and clean -- definitely worth the price we paid. A Metro station is right across the street, but if you want to walk to the sites, you'll spend a lot of time retracing your steps up and down Lisbon's hills.

We stayed over a long weekend and were surprised by how dead the neighbourhood was. It seemed as if we were in the business district. This made for welcome peace and quiet, at least until Monday morning bright and early, when construction across the street started, but it also meant no restaurants, cafes or shops were open (only the "showgirls" nightclub down the street was open at night). We'd read about the construction in a review many months ago and thought surely it would be over. It wasn't. The staff was very helpful and genuine. If you don't mind not being in the center of things, we highly recommend this hotel in Lisbon. And, since Lisbon is somewhat of a spread out city, you will probably have to use the transport regardless of where you stay.

The hotel is very close to metro station and el corte ingles, there is many options for dinner around. The staff was helpful, the rooms are very small, but everything its new and modern. The price was good.

We stayed 5 nights and had a very pleasant stay. As described by others, the hotel has been renovated to a high quality and modern design. We were on the 4th floor. The room and bed was comfortable and we slept well. We paid 6.50 euros each for breakfast, which initially I thought was expensive, but well worth it - lots of fresh fruit, coffee, cereal, continental and hot food and pastries. It set us up for most of the day. The breakfast area is located on -2 floor, but the lighting was brilliant and you wouldn't have known you were underground

It would have been good to have had tea/coffee making facilities in the room - especially as the it's a 4 star hotel - but maybe this is the norm in Portugal?

Staff were all very friendly and accommodating

The hotel was well located opposite the metro with easy access into the centre, although nothing much happens in the immediate area. We did find a good local Italian restaurant - turning right from the hotel and walking about ten minutes, if you wish to eat locally. I also recommend you purchase a metro/travel card for 50 cents then top up daily with 5 euros which gives unlimited 24 hour travel on the metro, buses and trams. we certainly made good use of it getting on and off the trams and metros.

We recommend a visit to Sintra, don't miss Pena Palace a fantastic Moorsh designed palace. We selected to visit the park grounds and the outside of the palace as there are lots of turrets rather than pay to go inside the palace. We also spent a great day in Cascais and Estoril - the train is cheap less than 10 euros return for 2 adults.

Lisbon is a great place to explore on foot and it's worth getting to the many high view points for fabulous views over the city

Choose this hotel to spend one night in Lisbon, was a great option...nice location near public transports to the center of the city, comfortable room with a good bed, nice design and an inviting atmosphere to pass a romantic night. Friendly staff and a good price option.
I strongly recommend!
