We were greeted by the lovely Pillar with such warmth .Our room was large and we had a indoor balcony that had large windows that opened. The fittings were like that of a 5 star small hotel!

We went to the terrace and "wow" what a place,A large room with seats and a terrace to die for views over the city and the hills beyond. There is an honesty bar there and prices are very good .The decor throughout is just perfect all the attention and love that has gone into creating The House has paid off . I have stayed many places in the world but this ranks as the nicest B and B ever with lovely owner and staff .We will be back

Ah, where to begin!
Right off the bat, we had a very warm welcome and were meant to feel as if this really were our house for the few days we would spend there.
Yes, the rooms are quite small (for American standards... Normal or larger than normal for european), but there is so much common space (amazing terrace, and super cute "living room") that there really is no need to sit on your bed and worry about the size of your own room.
The location was absolutely perfect for us. Street parking was not a problem. The neighborhood is really the upscale part of town so it is incredibly safe and clean. We found some excellent restaurants within walking distance. And if you cannot negotiate the crazy hills to walk over 20 min to Barrio Alto or beyond, the 28 tram picks up right around the corner. And riding the tram is an important experience on its own!
Would return to The House and recommend it to every and all family members and friends visiting beautiful Lisbon

I was greeted by Pilar, she showed mw the whole digs, where breakfast is, the famous top deck with a view of the whole city, how to work all the stuff. She offered tour books and dictionaries if I didn't have my own, extremely helpful. Francisco the owner is also very helpful, finally, Rita worked the weekends, she was as helpful, had many ideas for dinner, etc, unfortunately she is off to Australia for a three month holiday and life adventure, you will be well taken care of by Francisco and Pilar.
One benefit to the location is the 28E (elektrik) tram is two minutes away and the Igreja de Estrela. There is a small market at the top of the street towards the Church, water, juice, wine, beer, snacks, etc!!!!

Room Tip: I stayed in the Library, there was enough for two to stay, it would be very cozy if you did, the vie...

We stayed here in february 2011. Our room was nice, breakfast was great, location and views perfect. At breakfast we had a nice conversation with the owner, who told us he would be there at the check out. When we came back that afternoon, there was nobody there, except for the cleaner, who didn't speak any English. That wasn't a problem, but a nicer check-out/pick up of the bags, would have been nice. We would definatly come back here. The owner gives you great advice for food and drinks.

Due to the high ratings in Tripadvisor, I had very high expectations... And it all turned out to be just perfect!

We had a cozy, delightful room with an amazing view of the city, the staff were extremely nice and helpful and the breakfast was fantastic.

The price was very reasonable and location is not far from downtown and Bairro Alto, but easy to reach.

Flawless. We definitely want to go back!
