On this occasion had the octopus rice and seafood rice. Both excellent with lots of fish. A nice half bottle of vino verde completed the meal. This place is very popular and there are queues to get in and extremely busy service with tables close together so be prepared. Note that the sundry offerings like bread, cod cakes are not free as is the usual Portuguese practice! Expect to pay if you accept them!

We have just got the bill at this place....unbelievable! The rice was freezing and old and discoloured. The meat in our mixed grill smelled off and tasted strange. The vegetables were old and completely overcooked. This place is on the tourist track leading up to the viewpoint in Alfama and is clearly relying on the fact that customers are very unlikely to be coming back in any case. One of the worst meals i have paid for in my life. Possibly the worst.

Went with my GF and got a mixed seafood plate, seafood rice for 1, and a pitcher of sangria blanco. Everything was great. Although, they did bring us bread and little appetizers we didn’t order (we thought they were free) and charged us for them which added unnecessary charges to our bill. I would avoid eating food you didn’t order. Other than that it’s a nice spot to try out if you’re on a budget!

I have no idea why or how this hole got 4 stars. The cod was incredibly chewy, the rice was raw, the stew was disgusting - and it arrived COLD. Terrible service too, the guy who waited on us was extremely rude. It was so awful I actually felt the urge to stand at the door and turn people away so that nobody else would experience it. Seriously, stay away.
