This is an old restaurant under new management that has transformed a traditional "casa de pasto" in a modern eatery for informed tourists and locals. Decent prices and quality of food but would recommend more variety and change menus more often. Service is always good but tends to be slow when is full (very often) so be patient. Always book in advance!

Us, 4.. walked into gastronomic aromas .. our first day in Almocageme, of 15 to go.. simply to relax and enjoy the wines and foods of the area. We were not disappointed by firstly just sitting down to an already very busy restaurant at 1.00pm. Immediately, olives, crusty bread, herbed butters and cheese popped down by a friendly waitress.. the orders were taken quickly as the drool of the description of what was about to be before us... hit the table top... friends had the duck.. I had the pork.. extreme quiet squeals of delight were uttered by all upon the first mouth full. Excellent! Wine, superb, service ... needless to say with 15 days to go, we shall return, and return again.... the price so very affordable.

We visited this restaurant a couple of times last year and again this year. We were not disappointed. The menu is varied and the food is very tasty. The service is very friendly. The restaurant is family run and has been so for many a year. It is very popular with locals and tourists in the area, it is therefore essential that one books a table in the evening. Every night the restaurant is full. It is shut after lunch on Sunday and all day Monday. The price is reasonable, for a main course and either a starter or dessert plus half a carafe of red wine was €30 for us.

The Economi/Daily Set Menu lunch at 8 Euro is very good quality fresh produce. Lunch price included bread, olives, choices of 2 starters (we enjoyed pumpkin soup) and choices for main (we had the crispy skin grilled whole mackerel with potatoes and balsamic glaze sauce with red onions), water or wine or beer, also good Portugese coffee to end the meal. Affable wait staff made the whole experience delightful. This is the true Portugal away from tourist tracks. Enjoyed the village square and walk there from the coast.

Looking for a place to eat after visiting Cabo Carvoeiro we came across this restaurant. It seats in the middle of a very small village near Sintra and it has lots of character. Very pretty and well decorated it welcomes you in from the first second you step in. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They can advise you on the dish to choose accordingly to your taste. The mexilhão and queijo sisudo are great appetizers. The bread olives and butter are also very good. As main dishes the duck and arroz the tamboril were superb. The prices are not cheap but I wouldn't say it's overpriced. The only downside was how noisy it was inside. I might have had bad luck as there were two big groups in the room ... it kinda ruined the intimacy and ambience of the place. I very much recommend this spot for good Portuguese food.
