This hotel is 5-star as showed at the door but my experience has been different.
I have positive remarks, for instance:
Personnel very polite and friendly, always ready to help you
Comfortable high standing room
Van service to Cascais and beach very efficient
Good offer in restaurant for lunch time.
Kymia bar-restaurant very interesting.

In the other side, we have seen:
A lot of "free" kids everywhere in the hotel, absolutely unnapropiated to have a quiet and nice time; including the spa (children inside!). Always, we consider that breakfast buffet was very limited for this kind of hotel and restaurant buffet for dinner poor and expensive (much better for meals)

As sum up: in my opinion, this hotel that is far of village and the sea and it would be very appropiated for spending time on it., has to fix up the problem of limited offered options and, probably only in Summer, do something with the absolute invasion of children out of control by their parents that push you to go out.

Let me say first of all that the majority of staff were excellent, however one or two let the side down. Examples, we had family room, only one robe in bathroom not 4. Despite repeated requests no more appeared. For some reason no cereal spoons were on the breakfast table, none available to collect, so had to request, some waiters took so long that had to resort to using teaspoon. Yes minor inconvenience, but should not happen.
On the positive side, it was a joy to go to the swimming pool at a civilised time and have sun loungers available, not all covered with reserved towels. This alone would make me return. Overall I do recommend a visit you will enjoy.

Great potential, from a beautiful setting in acres of treed grounds to very large bedroom suites. Ours had a kitchenette with every conceivable item for in-house cooking (although we did not use it). We had a lovely garden patio and green lawns, well shielded from the entrance road by hedges and shrubs. I was glad to be on this wing (Rooms 14 onwards) instead of the main walkway between the lifts or near the pool which could be noisy, or those of the rooms facing onto the car park. The staff we found were a cut above any other hotel we have stayed at in Portugal, they were exceptionally friendly and helpful, to the point that we noticed and remarked on this change of attitude compared to our other experiences. The down fall of this hotel is the below par level of food on offer, as well as the unadvertised buffets, We tried the barbeque buffet and found the selection of salads very uninteresting, cheese board dismal, and the barbeque meat and chicken inedible. I even tried the mixed seafood dish and was so disappointed at how mushy and tasteless it was.The pancake machine and popcorn however were a big hit with children, and the dessert table looked quite appetizing. We tried their new concept of tasting dishes, tapas style at Kimya, a gastro-bar, the taste experience was very interesting, albeit minute portions at big prices. I would return to this hotel, for the large spacious rooms and garden outlook, but would recommend eating out, and be prepared to hire a car, or use the taxi service to get in and out to the town of Cascais.

This could be a great place to stay but it's not quite there yet. The venue, the rooms, the gardens are all terrific.

However the service was very erratic. We stayed here for 4 nights and experienced the full range from very good to outright rude and disinterested staff. It felt like there was a lack of training around consistency. This was also evident with room service. It was less expensive to have room service breakfast and this worked out well with our two young children however the same breakfast varied widely in quality and content each day. Most days there were things missing and the staff were reluctant to fix it as it was too far to the kitchen! The dining room for breakfast seemed too small as it was overcrowded every time we looked.

The other things that surprised us was the limited restaurant choices and the option of a buffet only on Sundays without any warning. On Sundays the only other option was to eat by the pool. The pool was good but there was also a lack of shade space which made it difficult with young children.

With properly trained staff, more restaurant choices and better consistently with food this could be a great place to stay.
