My husband has difficulty with mobility especially walking and climbing stairs. When I choose a hotel I have to bear this in mind. No stairs, no shower over the bath, and within easy reach of restaurants, shops, and attractions.
Well the Hotel Vitoria ticked all the boxes. The taxi went right up to the front door. There was a ramp to the lift and dining room and the bathroom had a shower cublcle.
It was an easy walk to the river. There were several good restaurants and snack bars in the vicinity, and the main street and bus stops were literally around the corner.
The room was clean if compact. The breakfast was fresh with plenty of choice and the staff were always on hand to help and very pleasant.
Our only disappointment was that the bar was not open in the evenings so we had to go out when it would have suited us to stay in the hotel especially as Portugal were playing their knock out match. I will definitely return to Hotel Vitoria in the future.

Stayed here 2 nights in a Standard twin room.
Liked:
+ Convenient location. In the historical part of the city, close to all attractions, very close to the central railway station of Coimbra, NB: make sure you come to "Coimbra", not "Coimbra-B" - then you need to change and travel 5 more minutes. About 15 min on foot from/to Terminal bus station.
+ An inexpensive, simple but nice hotel. A room of a good size, everything functions well, good pillows. Quiet at night.
+ Value for money!
Disliked:
- It was quite cold and humid in the room, but the weather was like this as well...
General impression:
Don't expect any luxury, but it's a good value for money hotel.

We chose the hotel for its location and the fact that it had parking for our car. The room is very basic but clean and the staff is very helpful. 75Euros a night is a good price for this place. Yona S

Hotel Vitoria is ideally located at the the bottom of Coimbra hill. It’s a small modern hotel. The rooms are compact but well appointed with roomy cupboards and spotlessly clean. The staff is very friendly and efficient. Breakfast is basic but tasty and the coffee is excellent. Great value for the money at 70 EUR per night.

We are a retired couple from NEW Zealand travelling around Portugal by rental car and stayed at the Hotel Vitoria for 2 nights. Before arrival I said to my wife " the hotel is only 2 stars so don't expect much", WRONG for us the hotel has felt like 4 star accommodation. Our twin room (room 114) is just delightful, light and airey , spacious, clean, good bathroom with plenty of hot water and lovely comfortable beds. The whole hotel is excellent including both rteception and the breakfast area. We found Beatriz at reception extremely helpful and gave is a good run down on what to do and see on arrival.

The hotel is in a very good quiet location and because of its proximity to the River and railway station we found it easy to locate in our rental car.

Of course in the end the hotel is only 2 stars, but for us, one of the better hotels that we stayed in Portugal.

Room Tip: 114 a room with twin beds was excellent
