My husband and I ate here our first night in Ponta Delgada as it was down the street from our AirBnB. Mariserra did not disappoint! We were promptly seated, and warmly greeted by what we realized (as the evening progressed) was the owner. He assisted us with our selection of wine, and bread, cheese and olives were brought to the table as part of the dining experience. From there we ordered the octopus salad which was so fresh and flavorful. I’d highly recommend it! In addition, I had the cod and my husband had the wreckfish at the recommendation of the owner. Both were excellent. We then capped off the evening despite being pretty full with desserts that were also top notch. Overall, it was an excellent experience from start to finish and all for a reasonable price. It was a Friday night so the restaurant was packed; despite this, everything was served promptly and with a friendly smile. If you are staying closer to the city center, don’t hesitate to make the short trip to this establishment—you won’t be disappointed!! We plan on eating here again prior to our departure at the end of the week.

Another of one of our stops as we were site-seeing. Its a place where all the municipality workforce comes in and enjoys a lunch or drink. Very high energy, everybody knows each other and there is lot of greeting going on. You can get half meals or full meals for sharing. (big portions) they serve local fish dishes, roasts and pork and chicken and soups and don't forget the home baked desserts. A great place to have lunch. Went in with my cousin Martinho and were very well received.

We’d been told we must try Meriserra - and that we’d need reservations, but we threw caution to the wind and showed up for lunch only to find we were the sole patrons of the restaurant at that time.

We weren’t really in the mood for fish, so we opted for the pork & clams. In a word: YUM! Actually, “Big Yum!” Loved every bite. House white wine was delicious (and cheap!)

I’m sure we were lucky to just waltz in and get a table, so do make a reservation and prepare to stuff your faces.

Suggested restaurant by tourist office. Beautiful location on the water and outside the city. Attentive staff and large portions of food. Enjoyed the relaxed ambiance and excellent cod.
