“Highly recommend - had a wonderful stay”
Reviewed 20 August 2010

Stayed here for two nights in July 2010.

Location: excellent, a 5 minute walk to the elevator to the beach, a 10 minute walk to the main area with restaurants/shopping, there’s also a bus stop a block up from the hotel

Rooms/amenities: the décor was nice, spacious we had TV, A/C, huge armoire (could even store both suitcases in it) the bathroom had a proper shower and was nice, no issues with water temperature or water pressure. The room was very clean, bed was comfortable. There’s a nice patio/deck with sun loungers, and you can have the buffet breakfast out there in the morning, sea views as well.

Overall: we ended up staying here because the accommodations we originally booked, despite a handful of positive reviews on tripadvisor, were unacceptable to us. We just walked by this hotel and popped in, viewed the room in advance, and then booked it for our last two nights in Albufeira. Wow, what a difference, this hotel became our oasis, and one of our favorites of the trip – it really salvaged our trip to Albufeira. Front desk staff were friendly/helpful. Would love to stay here again.

Suggestions: As we found with Lagos, Albufeira is quite touristy, so it was difficult to find decent food. However, well worth a visit is the Villa Joya restaurant. It’s about a 10 Euro cab ride away, two Michelin star restaurant, it’s not cheap (155 Euros per person for dinner), but worth every penny. Make reservations in advance. Beautiful outdoor seating, with the roar of the ocean in the background.

n terms of activities, we did the paragliding which we highly recommend, and the jetboating which was insane (if you wear contacts, put goggles on, because you will be drenched non-stop for the entire ride, I had to keep my eyes closed for much of the ride and threw out my contacts a week later). You can only do the jetboating from Praia Oura I believe (jetboat is a yellow boat) – we walked to Praia Oura, wouldn’t recommend it, it was about 45 min, you can just take the tourist train there instead, and it’s a nice ride. We did the package deal for jetboat & paragliding for 55 Euros, so we saved a few Euros. You can book at the hut on the beach (you can’t book through the activity offices, don't mistake it for the red boat rocket ride), just a note, this beach is not great for lounging, it was small, crowded, and rockier sand – just go here for activities on one of your beach days, stick to the beaches by the elevator for lounging.

We have just returned from 10 days at the Vila Sao Vicente and i can say with all honesty that this was a lovely hotel, the room was of a high standard and the staff are fantastic, nothing is too much triuble. If you require a hotel that is convenient for Albufeira old town then this is the place to stay.

After having a weeks holiday in Albufeira I spotted this hotel while out walking one day and decided to check it out. So much so that I decided to wait a night there. I cant believe that this is just a three star hotel as It deservedly merits 4 stars plus. A beautiful quiet and peaceful hotel. Reception staff so helpful and friendly. This is only a small hotel, 22 rooms I think and 1 suite.
No children under ten allowed. A small but adequate bar and lovely pool with comfortable sun loungers. The Rooms: I had a double room with balcony and sea view, overlooking the beach, the only sound at night were the waves crashing on the rocks, absolute bliss. Rooms are tastefully decorated with television, built in radio over beds. Toilets a bit small. no bath. Fridge. hairdryer. Comfortable beds and duvets. lovely wooden floors with rugs. I have stayed in five star hotels and I can honestly say that for comfort and tranquility none of them compare to this hotel. Well worth a visit. I am definately booking this hotel for a week in October.

I have only the best of memories from my staying in this hotel (last year). The hotel is small but very nice, the staff is friendly and helpful (and speak excellent English, which is rare in Portugal...) and the breakfast is very good. Also, the location could not be better, just a short walk from the beach (the swimming pool and I guess also some of the rooms have a lovely sea view) and from the shopping streets of Old Albufeira. Even though the night life is close by, the neighbourhood is quiet. Also, I really appreciated the hotel policy of not allowing children under the age of 10. Travelling as two adults without children on a romantic getaway, it was nice to have nice and quiet mornings, enjoying breakfast undisturbed!

  • Liked — Hard to choose from many great things! But probably the location.
  • Disliked — Can't think of anything, actually. Oh yes, the bathrooms were tiny.

We have just returned from a stay at this hotel, and it was only by accident that we ended up there, after 2 noisy nights at our booked hotel.
From the outside it is typically antiquated in keeping with the surrounding area. The inside is tastefully decorated very relaxed and comfortable. The owner Elizabeth was at the small reception and appologised for only having one room with a sea view available. The room itself was ideal a wonderful view of Fishermans Beach and across the town rooftops. The beds and furnishings in the room were extremely comfortable, remote control air con touch control radio with tiny built in speakers. The whole place looked as though it had just been re furbished, the decor in the lounge is gorgeous not the same as the pictures on web site. The pool is small but ample the best sun beds ever.
Breakfast was a typical continental but all very fresh.
The restaurants and bars are only minutes away on foot, maybe ten minutes to the square, which I must say has been spoilt by the changes made to it all concrete flags now, dont know why they have put something so modern in this historic town.
Beware of all the building work going on all over the town and on the beach, some parts are cordened off.
Anyway back to the hotel for a quiet few days it is ideal no kids under ten, so very peacefull like being in a country house going to try one of their other places next time, but wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
