This is the freshly renovated Georgian wing of a much older, 18th century house in a Kent village. Set behind a high walled front garden on the High Street, large windows on all rooms make it bright and light filled. The standard of décor and furnishings iis faultless, in keeping with the fine period architecture. The cantilevered curved staircase is particularly elegant. Warm as toast inside, and with a splendid open fire in the drawing room that lights up at the first attempt - not that it is needed, we only lit it to add to the atmosphere. Lovely bedroom and bathroom, and countless small touches. The gardens at the back are stunning. Charming hosts.
Way too cold. Couldn't even sleep. We asked them to raise the temp, and they did; however it did absolutely no good. The owners, nor Rural Retreats, weren't of any assistance when we brought this up. Not the so-called premium vacation experience we anticipated. Stay away, especially in the winter or summer (I'm guessing the AC system is equally inadequate).
