A quite old and slightly neglected museum. I still enjoyed my time wondering around the exhibits, the submarine and lightship. It could of been better but it was still enlightening if you are interested in this type of thing. I would recommend.

The attraction consists of a "museum", some of it old-fashionedly historical, some of it supposedly nature-oriented, but the interest of aquariums with papier-mâché fishes is limited at best. There is also a section with playthings for kids, including computer games that will occupy one kid for twenty minutes or so and keep all the others wiating. The other elements are an old, rusty Russian submarine of the Foxtrot type. It suggests the full horror of what life aboard must have been like for the 70 or so (!!!) sailors in what was not yet a hi-tech environment, but one is feft wondering how long the contraption will still be afloat. The third element is a lightship, which is not uninteresting.

The 3 halls that you go through in order by scanning the ticket mostly have playthings for kids and some very basic sea exhibitions aimed at kids that would still bore most due to using models and videos of fish instead of actual fish. The 2nd hall is the best with the history of Zeebrugge told through photos and maps and stuff (you need to refer to the brochure if you don't understand the Dutch captions). There's a fisheries exhibit after that but done very badly.

But then there's the Russian submarine - rusty, smelly, listing, probably just how it was for the Russian sailors. It takes some contorting to get through hatches and an awareness of the low ceilings and I loved it. Maybe worth the steep €13.50 entry on its own. The lightship is also ok but a lot of it was closed due to filming something.

Submarine is great, especially if you can enjoy it alone. Not sure why they call it U-480 if it was Б-21 (В-21). Also pity that conning tower is not accessible. Periscope moved to lightship.

Failures - absence of clearly marked signs on cabins and equipment - it would help immensely. Those which present are of really bad quality. Lighting is completely insufficient. Ship is very neglected. Could be much better experience
