We just walked in to this cafe for lunch during a short break to Ypres recently. It was so good we went back a couple more times during our trip. The staff were really helpful and friendly. You choose your table then order at the counter and your food is brought to you. A lovely menu with soup, pasta, toasties, salad etc. My daughter loved the spaghetti bolognaise, the waffles (huge!) and the milkshakes. We had toasties and rolls (huge again) which were made with lovely bread and fresh ingredients. Would definitely recommend for lunch or coffee.

Just picture the scene, a crisp, cold but sunny day during Armistice Week in Ypres and there we were parked in the main cobbled square looking for somewhere warm and welcoming. This was it! As soon as we walked through the door and sat down we felt at home. The hot Belgian Chocolate did the trick to warm us up after our visit to Tyne Cot and the sandwiches were delicious. And so after doing some sightseeing around Ypres and in need of some more refreshment, the choice was obvious. They remembered us straight away from earlier in the day - that's how good they are at customer service. well done to you.

I am in Ieper on an extended Business trip. Stopped in for a lunch on a sunny and cool fall day. I had a bowl of excellent fresh made carrot and tomato soup and a ham and cheese toasty. Both were delicious and the service is great.
Sit anywhere you like, the menus on the table are in Dutch, French and English. When you're ready order at the counter and they will bring it out to you. Simple fare done really well!
I'll be back!

Managed to eat here most nights as the food was so good! They have a ramp and one table at the back has a bit more room if you are in a wheelchair. The food was gorgeous, the prices were great and the owner is so sweet. They had two set menus as well as the more extensive food choices. Both of the set menus were excellent value and the food was fresh and quickly served. Would definitely recommend.

Called in here after walking the main square for something other than mussels.
Service is fantastic, food very high quality and served with a smile.
Whether you are on a budget or not, t'Appel is definitely worth trying for food any time of day.
In summary, a really great selection of traditional food served in a modern setting.
