Host friendly and helpful. Room spacious, very clean and nicely decorated. Fireplace was an added plus. Breakfast was more than adequate. Most enjoyable was the opportunity to talk with other guests and share experiences. Shower is adequate size with lots of hot water. Location of B & B is excellent, close to centre.

A few weeks ago my husband and I went to Bruges with my personnel for a nice long surprise weekend to celebrate the 5th anniversary of my dental office. We spent 2 nights in St Jacobs B & B, which is situated in a monumental building and is partly restored by its owners. Bruges is such a beautiful place with all her history and during our stay we especially noticed the great location of this B & B. It is very near the Great Market, the centre of Bruges, from where all the shops, cultural sight seeing and not to forget lots of streets with a great amount of nice restaurants start, but it is located in a rather quiet street! The whole weekend we could walk to and from the B & B. Our cars were parked in a parking nearby. (9 a 10 euro's a day) We felt very welcome by Thierry and his partner! They were friendly and generous to us, helpful and very sweet when one of us had an accident, but they also knew a proper distance to give you all the space you need to enjoy each others company. Because we occupied all four beautiful rooms (which are at the second floor (two stairs, so not fit for disabled persons)) we felt at home: we could walk and talk from room to room without disturbing others. The rooms were comfortable: nice shower, clean and neat rooms. The boxspring beds are heaven! Advise for light sleepers: take the garden room. (Sometimes cars and people are passing.) Breakfast is good, all served in the lovely diner room downstairs! Loved the croissants, jams and fresh orange juice! Love to come back next time!

I have booked this hotel because of its location near center (which was ok)
But also because of the fire in the room and avaibility of bicycles.
When we arrived we have been told that fire did not work without any explanations although i specially asked for it in my mail. Room next door told us in the morning that they really enjoyed their fire place ! Frustrating.
We were also told that both bicycles were just broken ??? Seems that it did not arranged them that day ...
I also asked about parking possibiliyies, i was answered to look at their website, i knew it, but there was only the name of a public parking without any address ....
And last thing we did not appreciate is that breakfast was served at 9 o clock ! Not before, not after. When I asked for a bit later i was answered that they had other things to do ...
Although shower was fine, i did not realize there was no bath. But my mistake i did not checked.
And finally i forgot a sweater, i realized it immediately while closing the door. I went back immediatly but they were already gone. During the day I went back 3 times even at nine o.clock. Never any answer. Don't know if i will ever receive it back.
So nice place but lots of little things missing for a romantic week end.

We were warmly welcomed by one of the freindly owners and got a little tour in the B&B.
We were in room nr. 3, it was a great ,spacious room, though a bit too big for the 2 of us.
The shower was also great and especially the fireplace at the end of the evening.
The B&B is in a small, quiet street from walking distance of the centre. Breakfast was great. The entourage and stylish interiour was great. We would definitely go here again!! They are going to make a hotel at the bakc of the B&B.

This B & B is one of the best places my husband and I have stayed in. It is more akin to a boutique hotel - to call it a B & B somehow conjures up the wrong images. This is a slick, contemporary, beautiful home that offers peaceful accommodation in the loveliest rooms we have seen. We felt like we were living in Homes & Gardens for a couple of nights! The proprietor, Thierry, is a great host - discreet but so helpful and informative. The breakfasts are fantastic, the location of the house is great - right in the centre of Bruges but tucked away so you're guaranteed a good night's sleep. We can highly recommend hiring bikes which are available from the B & B - the only way to see Bruges.
If we had one criticism, it is that the room didn't have a TV or, more importantly for us, a CD player. Being able to come home and put some music on and relax by the fire would have been great. But we could live without music for a couple of nights and would do so again to stay here.
