Description: Restaurant Basaal has been based at Dunne Bierkade, one of the most beautiful canals in the centre of The Hague since 2001. Chef Bas Oonk has led the way for years with his culinary style on Avenue Culinaire, a range of restaurants and cafes on Dunne Bierkade, each with their own unique and international style. Cosy restaurant and terrace Basaal serves dishes from the European kitchen in a warm, contemporary and intimate atmosphere. The restaurant consists of the adjoined parterres of two small town houses. In the summertime you can enjoy dining on the spacious terrace with view on the charming Dunne Bierkade. Kitchen Over the past few years, Bas Oonk's kitchen has evolved into a contemporary, basic style using regional products. For several years, Restaurant Basaal has been a member of Euro Toques, a collaborative that focuses on the use of natural, and preferably regional and seasonal produce. In 2015, the Michelin guide awarded the efforts and consistent quality of Basaal with a BiB Gourmand. 'Bib' is short for Bibendum, the Michelin man, that awards a mark of distinction to eating establishments that offer an excellent meal for under 37 euros.

Arrived in den haag late Friday evening with a booking for 2 adults and a child at 21. 30.i always feel anxious about a child eating out at this time but felt totally reassured by the confident staff. Relaxed environment. Wonderful local artisan food. Everything on the menu looked like something I wanted to try. Interesting drinks list. Pricey Bill but excellent value.

Looking for an early meal we walked into this small restaurant along the canal.
The menu was not very big, but still quite diverse. We opted for the days special for an entree, finely sliced cold ox tongue with a a small hot croquette and cornichon.
We close the vegetarian main, spaztle with parsnip, fried vegetables and lentils.
The wines by the glass were good, the staff very helpful and friendly and the food delicious

Went to the Hague for a work trip. Found this little restaurant here on the TripAdvisor. Went there with my work friends for dinner. We all had a lovely meal and a great time. The menu is just perfect, you can tell early on that it is one of those places where feesh ingredients and well thought menu is of most importance. Fish was great, tried the steak too - very nice indeed. Wine was delicious and the atmosphere was just charming. Highly recommend it.

The broad menu is available to please anyone's preference. We chose to enjoy a 5 course Chef's diner accompanied with wine selected by the host Bas. We were astonished! Perfect food, perfect wine, perfect service and that in a modern but very cosy restaurant. Every tiny and big thing that matter are just perfectly arranged and having diner and wine in this restaurant just is making you happy in the most euphoric possible way!

The interior is a bit boring in my opinion, however this doesn’t say anything about the food and service. The waiter is friendly and loves food. He recommends great dishes and offers surprising wines with them. Also the dishes were nice and had interesting varieties. It’s a good place for a nice night out.
