We arrived late, with 2 pizzas from a nearby takeout (‘VIA’ for anyone who is interested) and 2 bottles of wine. We were greeted warmly and the other 2 from our party who sadly decided not to come (due to the weather and the fact they’d be dragged on a walking tour for over 3 hours prior) were politely offered a refund. Pino was our captain and he manoeuvred the dingy around the sometimes narrow to wide canals expertly. He was lovely, knowledgeable and a delight to accompany our group on a not-so-warm Easter Day. Would recommend for anyone who doesn’t want earphones shoved in their ears with a boring recording of Dutch culture. Also for anyone who wants chilled BYOB ‘bring your own anything’

The perfect way to see the city. I would recomment taking the tour at the beginning of your trip as it will give you a good backdrop to the city and provides lots of ideas to fill the remainder of your trip. Our captain Pino was fun, helpful and filled with knowledge! Definitely worth it!

We took the tour on Saturday evening (March 31st) and had the absolute best time. Our guide was so funny and really entertaining! The boat holds 10 people + the guide and our boat was full. It was very comfortable. Eight of us sat around a table and two people sat in seats near the guide. The boat is enclosed so even though it was cold and rainy out we stayed warm and cozy. I would categorize this more as an evening out cruising the canals and learning fun facts about Amsterdam. It's not a hard core history lesson. We were able to bring wine and food and most people did. The boat had plastic cups and a wine opener on board. We all enjoyed our wine/cheese/crackers etc... while we sailed the canals listening to our guide's entertaining stories. We would highly recommend this tour!

Almost went for ‘the deal’ where you get museum tickets and a canal boat ride but after checking trip advisor reviews decided to book with Those Dam Boat Guys. Best decision ever! We passed those other boats and, no lie, those people looked miserable!
On our boat, we had an British couple, a French couple, and a couple from Germany. We were the American family. Great mix of cultures and with only 10 of you, everyone is able to swap stories and ask questions and joke around. This tour attracts the kind of people you want to sit next to!
Most of us were relaxing with an alcoholic beverage and a local snack. Our guide was Alec and he was awesome. If I lived in Amsterdam I would want to hang out with Alec and his friends. The meeting place is easy to find and Alec’s tour talked about everything from boats to churches to ‘people in the red light district who fall in love in one day and want to wrestle in a special way’. We had a 12 and 14 year old so he wanted to be a bit respectful. It was nice and made it not awkward at all, just funny.
This tour was the very first thing we did in Amsterdam and I recommend you put it early on your itinerary (like first)because it gave us background and knowledge for everything we did next.
