One of the best meals we ever had.Everything from the service to the decor and especially the food was first class. We enjoyed it more than Le Bernadin in New York!

“My favorite restaurant in Amsterdam. - if not the entire world!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 February 2012

This seafood restaurant off an unassuming roundabout in Amsterdam Zuid is amazing. The prices are not cheap but the experience is well worth it. I've been there around 5 times and it is consistently good every time. The flavors are unique, well thought out, and beautifully presented. And the service is great! They have English menus for those who don't speak Dutch.

“Excellent 10 course menu - asome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 February 2012

We had their ten course menu which is an experience itself. Good staff, adequeate service, good wines and excellent dishes with a huge variety of fish sometimes in combination with meat. For certain we will be back!

“Best fresh fish in Amsterdam”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 February 2012

If you like fish very much and you want to pay for that addiction, there is no place that delivers fresh fish better then Vis aan de Schelde. Again: be prepared to pay because it is not cheap. But it is THE best fish restaurant in Amsterdam.

“Nice and refined fish restaurant, loved it !”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 February 2012

We reserved a table at this restaurant at a cold winter evening. When we entered we got a warm welcome by friendly staff. We opted for the 5 course menu and were not disappointed. We started with sashimi from marinated salmon with a salad of bulgur and BBQ'ed vegetables, a ras-el-hanut mayonaise and gelly of rucola. A very fresh dish with a nice range of different tastes.
A lovely Japanese Dashi soup was the next in line. Once again well prepared, with Nobashi shrimps and mushrooms.
Than we had a very tasty langoustine on beef (which was a bit dry), and an original way of serving "hutsepot"...one completely decomposed, the other as a creme.
4th dish was grilled turbot with a little piece of italian bacon, a foam of bacon and leek, young leek and beans. This was more traditional, but very well prepared and light.
The dessert was a great combination of blood orange (compote & sorbet) and fennel.
We ended with tea and coffee served with some nice sweets and went back into the cold night with a happy feeling. Strongly recommended
