This was my first time in Amsterdam and do not regret booking this amazing food walking experience. The price included a cruise on the canals, however because I was there during the February/March 2018 Europe cold snap, the canals were largely frozen over and the cruise was not to be. Eating Amsterdam tours were great in their communication about this and refunded that portion of the price (N.B. be mindful of this if you're visiting Amsterdam in winter. Also be mindful to wear a warm coat in winter, a scarf and hat/beanie as the weather was brutally cold). The remainder of the tour was worth the cold weather and walking through the streets of the picturesque Jordaan district. Make sure you bring a smartphone/camera/ipad to take what will no doubt be amazing photos as you walk the streets. Our friendly and enaging walking guide, Estefan, was most knowledgeable in the local cuisine and took us to a wide range of boutique food stores. This provided for many opportunities to sample some great food, which included cheeses at a deli, cold cuts at an established butcher shop, the best biscuit snacks (Stroopwafel - which tasted even better warmed up from the deli we visited) and some delicious Indonesian food, given the colonial connection. I highly recommend this tour for anyone that's interested in getting a feel for local dutch cuisine and an overview of Dutch history.

Thank Dan T

I was lucky enough to do this tour on a day when the sun was shining, adding to the charm of the neighborhood and the canals. We had a lovely walk through the Jordaan, sampling a range of foods: apple pie, cheeses, satay with peanut sauce, stroopwafel, herring, tulip vodka, bitterballen, and poffertjes. Yum! We road through the canals in a boat that looked like something out of a classy James Bond scene, all the while learning more about the city from our excellent guide, Rudolph. I went back to the Suriname restaurant a few days later because the satay was soooo delicious! My fellow tour participants tended to be novice travelers, which limited their ability to swap travel stories, but our guide was thoroughly engaging, good-humored, and knowledgeable. This is a great way to sample the flavors of Amsterdam!
