Rembrandt Square Hotel

The hotel itself was easy to locate although the train / metro system is a mental workout for anyone not familiar with Amsterdam!

Location is great, a short walk from Rembrandt Square and the tram stops

thankfully Amsterdam is pretty small so you can easily walk just about anywhere in the city from this hotel and there's endless choice of places to eat and have a drink!

the rooms are small and a little basic but nice and clean. As a base to explore the city they were good, beds were comfy (good after all the walking you'll do) and trams aside there's not too much noise

Staff were polite, helpful and spoke flawless English

Stayed here for 2 nights in August with a friend. Hotel was okay, very basic but clean and beds were comfortable. We stayed on first floor and the music from the club really isn't as bad as some people are making out. We both fell sleep within ten minutes both nights. Please don't let the music out you off, we were also on the front right on Rembrandt square which was brilliant for people watching. Very good location and a lively area with lots to do and good places to eat. Only thing I wanted was a kettle for the room that's the only part that let it down for me.

PROS: The room has a very convenient location, walking distance to all main sights. Clean bathrooms, and comfortable but basic rooms. The WiFi is strong and I enjoyed the free breakfast and luggage storage they offered.

CONS: Our room was incredibly hot, and even with the windows wide open you are out of luck if there is no breeze. Next time I'll stay somewhere with a/c or a ceiling fan. Also when we checked in the girl at the desk seemed disinterested and annoyed, and offered us no information about the city or the area. In general, the staff was a bit distant. Also get used to the smell of marijuana as the place below is a "coffee shop" and the odor has permeated all the surrounding areas.

Arrived att a coffee shop. You dont see that on the booking sites....right next to it is door to the hotel, reception up a floor.

The smell of smoke ilkegal in most countries would make any working environment controller go nuts!! Poor staff.

Staff was extremely friendly (!) and helpfull, and the place was clean and welcoming.

Deserves higher rating, im just disappointed for not getting a private bathroom. Slight 'hostel' feeling..

Very steep stairs, no elevator

No hot water, no pressure either, so showering is a long and cold challenge.

Great breakfast, alas no gluten free alternative. Excellent coffee.
