The group At this hotel went above and beyond during our stay! The city went into lockdown before our holiday trip. They hotel was willing to work with us for a last min cancel. However upon arrival they made great accommodations and gave us amazing suggestions and we were able to make the most of our time in AMS! They remebered our names and stories from previous visits!! 100 thumbs up. Will be staying here when I come back!

We were traveling during Covid, which add logistics. The staff was all so helpful in navigating the ever changing rules for nearby attractions.

The hotel itself is exquisite. It is 3 properties that have been combined. The reception and interior stairway are beautiful. The received us with hot coffee / hot chocolate for the kids.

They changed up the rooms so we could have 2 rooms next to each other (traveling w 3X kiddos).

In the room, they had chocolate Christmas tree sculptures waiting for us. Every detail attended to.

On this trip we also stayed at a Ritz in Prague and a the Plaza in NYC and this was by far our favorite hotel stay / staff.

Everything was as hoped from the start until the end of our stay. Polite, hospitable, correct, attentive, wonderful room, all was good in a very warm environment

From the interested and attentive lady who received us at the check-in and check-out and the gentle valet who completed surprised our daughter by giving her an umbrella to protect her from the rain. Just 2 wonderful examples of how your staff - together with the wonderful hotel on a great and central location offer hospitality by the book

Room tip: Take a room w/ canal view, no issues w/ sound, well insulated

My husband and I have stayed in some very nice hotels over the years (Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, the Cavalieri in Rome, etc.), but the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam surpassed them all. It started when we made our reservations and immediately received a 4-page questionnaire asking how our stay could be made more enjoyable. When we arrived, the entire staff was extremely friendly, welcoming, and attentive to our needs. Paula, who received us, offered delicious chocolate, drinks, warm towels for our cold hands, and a short tour detailing the hotel's interesting history. The doorman provided expert assistance with our luggage and was helpful in offering umbrellas on the day it rained. Nathaniel, our concierge, had already procured tickets to several museums for us and arranged for changed entry times when Amsterdam instituted a 5 p.m. closing time. He also arranged for the shipment of an item we bought on our trip and helped us locate a nearby (and inexpensive) testing site for covid, as required by the U.S. government. Breakfast in the restaurant was amazing and delicious, with very attentive service. Our room was upgraded (due to our Hilton Diamond status) and it was huge and wonderfully appointed, looking out over a beautiful canal. The bed and bedding were very comfortable and the luxurious robe was one I wish I could have taken home with me! Because shops and restaurants were closed after 5 p.m. due to city regulations, we spent more time in our room than usual and enjoyed delicious room service, as well as a "welcome amenity" (a beautiful chocolate Christmas tree), a delicious berry tart to help us celebrate an anniversary, a plate of complimentary macarons to "atone" for a minor inconvenience we experienced, a keepsake sample of the fragrance we had chosen for room turndown service, and a package of cookies to enjoy on our trip home. We were truly impressed with the amazing service and can completely understand why the Waldorf Astoria is rated #1 in Amsterdam.

Our stay at the Waldorf Astoria in Amsterdam was easily the best hotel experience I've had in 60+ years of travel. Although the hotel itself is beautiful and the location is a perfect base for sightseeing excursions into the city, what sets the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam apart is the exceptional, above-and-beyond service of its staff.
It began a month before we arrived. We expected help in obtaining tickets and such as part of normal concierge service. Where the Waldorf excelled was helping us navigate the COVID requirements that became almost overwhelming for non-locals. The concierge staff, in particular Mr. Peter Boellaard, answered our questions patiently and even made our COVID testing arrangements for us when we were stymied by the Dutch website. He helped us make the appointments, find the nearby testing facility, and navigate the website that turned our results into acceptable certifications.
We made use of the hotel car (a very nice Mercedes) to pick us up at the docks after out Viking River Cruise and deliver us to the hotel. The driver had our bags already loaded by the time we got off the ship and took us to the front door of the hotel. The car was also very handy to take us to the airport after our stay.
The gentleman at reception (sorry I can't recall his name) immediately made us feel welcome and appreciated. The way that Waldorf handles check-in was fantastic, relaxing and refreshing instead of being an ordeal to just make it through like at most other hotels.
Our room was set up for a very comfortable stay in every way, down to the heated bathroom floor and towel rack.
Every staff person we encountered, from the doorman, reception, concierge staff, restaurant staff, and others we simply passed in the hallways seemed genuinely friendly and exhibited a great willingness to help us in any way.
When we someday are fortunate enough to return to Amsterdam, the Waldorf Astoria experience will be something we look forward to as much as enjoying the city.
