“Food was good - Policy of not serving tap water is unfortunate”

The food was delicious and spicy. So their policy of not serving tap water while charging an excessive 4 Euros for a medium-sized bottled water was unfortunate and distracted from an otherwise good experience. I do understand this policy is common in many European locations. But in the 10+ establishments I visited over 4 days in Amsterdam and its surroundings, this was the only restaurant I found with this policy - budget and high-end inclusive. This is probably because the water is sourced from a local nature preserve called loenderveense-plas so it is eco-friendly and sustainable. I personally found the local tap water better tasting than bottled. I hope the restaurant will reconsider this unfortunate policy.

There are three Ethiopian restaurants close by in this district and thus small nicely decorated place is the best. With a lovely relaxed feeling and cool staff, this was the first Ethiopian food we'd eaten since Nairobi 20 yeas ago. And it was excellent, complete with imported Ethiopian beer. Overall a great evening and highly recommended.

The place is very "down to earth" the staff super helpful when we didn't know what to order. The dish we ordered was a lot of small saucy dishes that was served together with food pan lakes to eat them with. Really tasty and perfect to share.

I visited Klein Africa with a friend because it seemed like an interesting, friendly place. We had some very tasty Eritrean food surrounded by traditional African decoration and chatted with the lovely manager who was kind enough to share some info about Eritrean history and tradition. An amazing experience overall.

Dropped in with a friend who'd been there before and he ordered a dish to share between the two of us. Great experience to eat with my fingers - the last time I did that was in Africa (Morocco) in the 80s. This is a very charming place with very friendly staff and excellent food - recommended!
